  • Maple Leafs' Martin Jones: Jolted by Bolts
    By RotoWire

Jones turned aside 26 shots in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Lightning. Tampa Bay jumped out to a 2-0 lead before seven minutes had elapsed in the first period and built a 5-1 lead before the second intermission, and Toronto's late rally ended up falling short. This could be Jones' last appearance for the Maple Leafs -- the 34-year-old netminder will be a free agent in the offseason, and the team is more likely to bring back Ilya Samsonov to pair with Joseph Woll. Jones went 11-8-1 during his season in blue and white with a 2.87 GAA and .902 save percentage over 22 outings, numbers that should be good enough to earn him an offer from a team in need of a veteran backup in the crease.

  • Jones is expected to start on the road against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, Mark Masters of TSN reports. Jones is making his first appearance since March 23. He has an 11-7-1 record, 2.70 GAA and .908 save percentage in 21 contests this season. The Lightning, who rank fifth offensively with 3.48 goals per game, figure to be a challenging adversary for the netminder, unless they decide to rest a number of their key players for the meaningless finale.

  • Maple Leafs' Martin Jones: Strong in relief
    By RotoWire

Jones stopped five shots in a 6-3 win over Edmonton on Saturday. Jones entered Saturday's contest with just a bit more than three minutes left after Ilya Samsonov suffered some kind of lower-body injury. Jones was immediately pelted by the Oilers, who had pulled their netminder for the extra attacker. The 34-year-old was sharp, and he also got help from his post. Joseph Woll is slated to start Sunday, so Jones will likely act as his backup until Samsonov returns.

  • Jones stopped 23 of 26 shots in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Golden Knights. The Maple Leafs jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period, giving Jones all the support he needed to secure his second win in a row. It was Toronto's sixth straight win, though Ilya Samsonov has once again claimed the No. 1 job in Toronto. Jones is at 11-7-1 with a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 20 outings. The Maple Leafs wrap up their road trip Saturday in Colorado, and with no back-to-back sets over the next week, it's unclear when Jones might get back between the pipes.
