McDonagh had a goal and an assist Saturday in a 6-4 win over the Hurricanes. McDonagh made a nifty move early in the third period, breaking through two defenders and slipping the puck between Pyotr Kochetkov's pads to make it 4-4. It was a goal scorer's goal. The points are McDonagh's first after missing five weeks due to injury. He's going to eat a lot of ice time with Victor Hedman (elbow) out until February, so scoop him off the wire.

McDonagh (undisclosed) was activated from injured reserve on Thursday, per the NHL media site. McDonagh last played Nov. 8 and has missed the last 18 games. The 36-year-old veteran defenseman was off to a good start to the season before his injury, tallying three goals and six points in 15 games. He should enter the lineup Thursday, replacing Steve Santini.

McDonagh (undisclosed) told reporters, "We'll see," when asked if he would be ready to play against Los Angeles on Thursday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports. McDonagh has been on the shelf since Nov. 8 versus the Capitals, a stretch of 18 games on injured reserve due to his undisclosed injury. Prior to his absence, the veteran blueliner was struggling offensively with just one point in his last eight outings. If McDonagh is cleared to play Thursday, it would likely come at the expense of Declan Carlile or Steve Santini.

McDonagh (undisclosed) is day-to-day, Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site reports Monday. McDonagh remains on injured reserve and will miss his 18th straight game against Florida on Monday. However, he appears to be progressing toward a return to the lineup. McDonagh has collected three goals, six points, 15 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and eight hits through 15 appearances this season.

McDonagh (undisclosed) agreed to terms on a three-year, $12.3 million contract extension with Tampa Bay on Thursday. McDonagh -- who is currently on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury -- is on his second stint with the Lightning, having spent five seasons with the organization from 2017-2022. Prior to getting hurt, the veteran blueliner was chipping in well offensively with three goals and three helpers in 15 appearances. While McDonagh won't be much of a factor with the man advantage, he should still be capable of pushing for the 30-point threshold -- assuming he gets back into the lineup sooner rather than later.
