Talbot has been solid in his last five outings, posting a 2.01 GAA and .935 save percentage to go with a 3-1-1 record. In fact, that lone regulation loss came despite the veteran netminder limiting the Maple Leafs to just two goals on 19 shots Nov. 8. • Talbot will defend the visiting crease in Toronto on Friday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Alex Lyon was slated to get the start but he battling a lower-body injury that forced the Red Wings to recall Ville Husso on an emergency basis. Talbot has been terrific this season, going 4-1-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .929 save percentage in seven appearances. He will face the Maple Leafs, who will be missing their top star Auston Matthews with an upper-body injury.

  • Talbot stopped 28 of 29 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks. Talbot gave up a goal to Nick Foligno midway through the second period, but he was excellent the rest of the way and posted his second straight win. He's been turning things around of late following a subpar start to the season, posting a 3-0-1 record with a 2.00 GAA and an excellent .941 save percentage across his last four appearances. Even though Talbot has been splitting time with Alex Lyon, there's no question he's been trending in the right direction of late.
