Talbot will get the starting nod for Wednesday's matchup with Pittsburgh, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Talbot has been solid in his last five outings, posting a 2.01 GAA and .935 save percentage to go with a 3-1-1 record. In fact, that lone regulation loss came despite the veteran netminder limiting the Maple Leafs to just two goals on 19 shots Nov. 8. With the Penguins struggling, Talbot could be in line to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Talbot stopped 17 of 19 shots in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Maple Leafs. The third goal was an empty-netter with 1:30 left in the third period. Talbot had a strong showing Friday in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair, but he had to settle for the loss despite this being his third straight outing in which he conceded two or fewer goals. This was only the second regular-season loss for Talbot, who owns a 4-2-1 record with a 2.39 GAA and an excellent .926 save percentage across eight appearances.

Talbot will defend the visiting crease in Toronto on Friday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Alex Lyon was slated to get the start but he battling a lower-body injury that forced the Red Wings to recall Ville Husso on an emergency basis. Talbot has been terrific this season, going 4-1-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .929 save percentage in seven appearances. He will face the Maple Leafs, who will be missing their top star Auston Matthews with an upper-body injury.

Talbot stopped 28 of 29 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks. Talbot gave up a goal to Nick Foligno midway through the second period, but he was excellent the rest of the way and posted his second straight win. He's been turning things around of late following a subpar start to the season, posting a 3-0-1 record with a 2.00 GAA and an excellent .941 save percentage across his last four appearances. Even though Talbot has been splitting time with Alex Lyon, there's no question he's been trending in the right direction of late.

Talbot will be between the pipes for Wednesday's road matchup against the Blackhawks, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Talbot is coming off a 2-1 win against Buffalo on Saturday in which he turned aside 31 of 32 shots. The 37-year-old has been solid through six appearances while splitting time with Alex Lyon -- Talbot has posted a 3-1-1 record, .923 save percentage and 2.73 GAA. The Blackhawks have scored 36 goals through 13 games this season.
