Hertl came through when the Golden Knights needed him the most, netting back-to-back power-play tallies in the second and third periods to lift the team from a 2-0 deficit to a 2-2 tie. Hertl has found the back of the net three times in his last two games, and all three goals have come with the man advantage. Six of Hertl's seven goals this season have come on the power play.

The 31-year-old center had gone seven contests without a goal and three games without a point entering Wednesday. He's up to five tallies, eight assists, seven power-play points, 28 shots on net, 26 hits, 14 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 16 outings this season. Hertl's offense is good, but his non-scoring numbers are a little shaky in areas, though not to the point of threatening his status as the second-line center.

  Hertl notched an assist in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Utah. Hertl set up Pavel Dorofeyev's tally in the second period. The assist was the 500th point of Hertl's career, a milestone he achieved in his 730th regular-season appearance. The 30-year-old center has mostly looked good to begin his first full year with the Golden Knights, picking up four goals, eight assists, 19 shots on net, 20 hits, 13 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 12 outings. He continues to play on the second line and first power-play unit.

Over his last five games, Hertl has three goals and five assists while seeing time on the second line. The 30-year-old center is up to 11 points, 19 shots on net, 19 hits, 13 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 11 appearances this season. For now, Hertl is playing a larger role at even strength than William Karlsson, but that could change if the Golden Knights can't sort out their road struggles in a travel-heavy November.
