  Andersen made 19 saves on 23 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers in Game 6. Carolina had two separate two-goal leads in Thursday's loss, but Andersen and the Hurricanes couldn't keep the door shut. Carolina went up 2-0 early in the second period, but New York answered back less than a minute later after Andersen lost his footing in the crease. New York went on to dominate the third period -- Chris Kreider scored a natural hat trick to complete the comeback for the Rangers. Andersen finished the postseason with a 6-4 record alongside a 2.62 GAA and an .895 save percentage. The 34-year-old veteran has one more year remaining on his current deal before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2025-26.

He is 6-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .902 save percentage over nine playoff outings, and he has yet to lose on home ice this postseason. A win Thursday for Andersen and the Hurricanes would force a Game 7 on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

  Andersen turned aside 20 of 21 shots in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rangers in Game 5. With the Hurricanes on the brink of elimination at Madison Square Garden, Andersen put forth a solid effort against New York. The 34-year-old did not face a heavy workload, as Carolina played with more structure in front of the goaltender. It was only the second time in Andersen's nine starts this postseason that he's allowed less than two goals in a game. Carolina will need the veteran to be at his best again Thursday in Game 6 against the Rangers. Andersen is 6-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .902 save percentage during the playoffs.

  Andersen was the first goalie to leave the ice Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports, indicating he'll be in goal on the road for Game 5 against the Rangers. Andersen was almost certainly going to get the start after helping the team stave off elimination by stopping 22 of 25 shots in Game 4. Still, the veteran netminder is sporting a lackluster .874 save percentage over his last four appearances. At this point, if Andersen can extend the series again, he should remain between the pipes heading into Game 6.

  Andersen stopped 22 of 25 shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rangers in Game 4. Andersen got the nod for Game 4 after Pyotr Kochetkov couldn't turn the Hurricanes' fortunes around in Game 3. Andersen didn't have a great performance Saturday, but he did just enough to keep Carolina's season alive for one more contest. The 34-year-old is now 5-3 with a 2.63 GAA and an .897 save percentage through eight playoff outings. It won't get easier moving forward, as the Hurricanes are still facing elimination as the series shifts back to New York for Game 5 on Monday.
