  • Flames' Anthony Mantha: Done for season
    By RotoWire

Mantha will undergo season-ending ACL surgery on his knee Thursday. Mantha sustained the injury in a 3-2 overtime win over Montreal on Nov. 5. He will conclude the 2024-25 campaign with three goals, seven points, 15 shots on net, eight blocked shots and 16 hits in 13 appearances. Mantha is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer. The Flames could move him from regular injured reserve to long-term injured reserve if the team needs the cap space.

  • Mantha (lower body) was designated for injured reserve Thursday, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports. Mantha was injured in Tuesday's clash with Montreal and now should be expected to be sidelined for at least the Flames' next three contests. Prior to getting hurt, the 30-year-old winger was finding his stride with three points in his last four outings. Barring a long-term injury, Mantha should still be capable of pushing for the 40-point mark after racking up 44 points in 74 regular-season outings with Vegas and Washington last year.

  • Mantha (lower body) wasn't at practice and will miss Thursday's game in Boston, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Mantha was injured in the opening stanza Tuesday and did not return. Head coach Ryan Huska said Thursday that Mantha was "still being evaluated." Mantha has four goals and seven points in 13 games this season. Look for Kevin Rooney to enter the lineup in Mantha's absence.

  • Mantha (lower body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Canadiens. Mantha was injured in the first period and did not come out for the second. The 30-year-old winger should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. The Flames' road trip continues with stops in Boston on Thursday and Buffalo on Saturday -- if Mantha can't play, Kevin Rooney would likely rejoin the lineup.

  • Calgary head coach Ryan Huska wants Mantha to shoot more, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports. "You saw tonight, there was multiple times he was standing right in front of the net," Huska praised. "That's how he scored his goal. And for a guy that is his size and has his ability with the puck, that's what we need out of him." Mantha registered a power-play goal and fired four shots on net, leaving the coach and player in agreement that the winger needs to shoot more. Those four shots Sunday were nearly a third of Mantha's season total of 14 SOG through 12 outings. The winger, who's tied for second on the team with four goals, rides a three-game point streak into Tuesday's road meeting with the Canadiens.
