Fiala picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to Chicago. The 28-year-old winger has delivered back-to-back two-point performances since his benching Oct. 29, so it seems safe to say Fiala has received the message from coach Jim Hiller. That brief visit to the doghouse aside, Fiala's had a productive start to the season, racking up five goals and 10 points in his 11 games -- including three goals and six points on the power play.

Fiala scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Golden Knights. Fiala had drawn head coach Jim Hiller's ire twice recently -- he took reckless penalties Saturday before missing a team meeting Tuesday that led to him being scratched. As usual, that one game off was all it took, and Fiala played a key role in the Kings' comprehensive win over Vegas. The 28-year-old has five goals, three assists, 29 shots on net, eight hits, 12 PIM and a minus-4 rating through 10 appearances. He's not particularly good defensively, but Fiala should be a lock for a middle-six role as long as he can avoid penalties.

Fiala (coach's decision) is slated to return to the lineup against the Golden Knights on Wednesday, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site. It's been a rough few games for Fiala, as he was held to just 10:12 of ice time versus Utah on Saturday after being benched before missing a team meeting that saw him effectively suspended against the Sharks on Tuesday. Still, the 28-year-old winger has been producing solid offensive numbers to start the year, racking up four goals and two assists in nine games, including four power-play points. Fiala figures to replace Andre Lee in the lineup and could see time with the man advantage.

Fiala won't play in Tuesday's game versus the Sharks, per the NHL media site. Per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site, Fiala missed a team meeting, which is the reason for his scratch. The winger has also drawn criticism from head coach Jim Hiller for taking too many penalties -- Fiala has 12 PIM over nine contests so far. Trevor Lewis was previously announced as the Kings' scratch up front as Akil Thomas draws in for his season debut, but Lewis will play with Fiala out.

Fiala put up a power-play assist Saturday before being benched later in the game. Los Angeles won 3-2 over Utah. Kings coach Jim Hiller had suggested he'd decrease ice time for players who repeatedly take bad penalties. Fiala took an interference penalty in the first period and was whistled for cross-checking in the second stanza. He ended up with 10:12 of ice time over 14 shifts. Entering Saturday's matchup, Fiala had played more than 17 minutes in six of the Kings' first eight games. Players usually respond well to situations like this, so watch for Fiala to hit the ice flying Tuesday against San Jose.
