  • Forsberg (undisclosed) won't travel with the Senators on their upcoming road trip and remains without a timeline for return, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. The Senators will be without their backup netminder as they start a nine-game road trip Tuesday in Seattle. Leevi Merilainen was recalled from AHL Belleville to serve as Linus Ullmark's backup in Forsberg's absence.

  • Forsberg's undisclosed injury that he sustained Saturday is bad enough that the Senators will need to recall a goaltender from AHL Belleville, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. Forsberg was hurt in the gym prior to the contest. He likely won't be ready for Tuesday's game in Seattle since the Senators are opting for a transaction, but the move hasn't been announced yet. If Forsberg is forced to miss a week or more, he could be placed on injured reserve.

  • Forsberg won't start at home versus the Penguins as previously reported, with Linus Ullmark instead getting the nod, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. The team later reported that Forsberg sustained a minor injury prior to the pregame warmup. Per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Forsberg's absence will be covered by an emergency backup goaltender. Ullmark will start both halves of the Senators' back-to-back, while Forsberg will have to wait for another chance to end a skid that has seen him lose four of five starts with 16 goals allowed in that span.

Linus Ullmark picked up a shutout Friday versus the Hurricanes, and Forsberg will get the second half of the back-to-back. Forsberg has lost four of his last five outings, giving up 16 goals on 116 shots in that span. The Penguins have turned things around recently, winning four of their last six games and scoring at least five goals in each of those victories.
