  Sheary was waived by Tampa Bay on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Sheary dressed in three of the Lightning's opening six games, recording no points or shots while averaging 11:01 of ice time across those three appearances. If he goes unclaimed -- which seems likely given his $2 million annual cap hit through 2025-26 -- he will probably be reassigned to AHL Syracuse.

  Sheary scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Senators. He scored on a backhand from between the circles off a slick pass from Nikita Kucherov. The points were Sheary's first in his last seven games. He has 15 points, including four goals, in 54 games this season.

  Sheary had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 loss to Calgary on Thursday. Sheary tied the game 1-1 in the first period when he tapped in a backdoor pass. It was his first goal in 36 games, a span during which he managed just eight assists. The 31-year-old Sheary is mired on a lower line in Tampa Bay and isn't really a fantasy asset. Nice night, though.

  Sheary (hand) is expected to be in the lineup Tuesday versus the Jets. The Lightning have a lack of healthy defensemen with Mikhail Sergachev (lower body), Haydn Fleury (hand) and Erik Cernak (upper body) all sidelined, but they won't have to play short. Sheary was considered a game-time decision, and with 13 forwards dressing for the contest, his ice time may be even more limited than usual -- he's averaged just 10:41 per game this season.

  Sheary (hand) will be a game-time call versus the Winnipeg on Tuesday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports. The Lightning are dealing with a bunch of injuries among their defensemen, so if Sheary is able to play, the team may be forced to roll with 13 forwards and five blueliners Tuesday. If he's not able to play, Tampa Bay may just have to play a player short against the Jets. Either way, confirmation on Sheary's status should surface once the Bolts take the ice for pregame warmups.
