Gustavsson stopped 33 of 37 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Golden Knights. Gustavsson has not risen to the occasion in his last two starts, allowing a total of 10 goals on 64 shots to the Avalanche and Golden Knights. The 26-year-old netminder has seen a starter's workload when healthy this season, so it's possible he may just need a little extra rest to get on track, and that could happen with Marc-Andre Fleury playing well lately. Gustavsson is down to 18-8-3 with a 2.50 GAA and a .917 save percentage through 30 starts. The Wild have another tough matchup next on the schedule, as they host the Oilers on Wednesday.

Gustavsson is expected to start Sunday's road matchup against the Golden Knights, Wild radio broadcaster Joe O'Donnell reports. Gustavsson got the night off Saturday against San Jose, but he'll unsurprisingly return to the net for the second half of the back-to-back set. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent over three appearances this month, going 1-1-0 with a 4.16 GAA and .848 save percentage, and he could have some difficulty against the Golden Knights, who are tied for fourth in the NHL with 3.40 goals per game.

Gustavsson stopped 21 of 27 shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Avalanche. Gustavsson had to take this one on the chin -- Marc-Andre Fleury dressed as backup despite battling an illness because the Wild also have two injured goalies at AHL Iowa and couldn't make a recall work with limited cap space. This was a second poor outing in a row for Gustavsson, who has allowed 10 goals on the last 45 shots he's faced. He dropped to 18-7-3 with a 2.44 GAA and a .918 save percentage over 29 appearances, but he's also started seven of the last eight games since returning from a lower-body injury. The Wild have a back-to-back up next with road games in San Jose on Saturday and in Vegas on Sunday.

Gustavsson will defend the home crease versus Colorado on Thursday, per Jessi Pierce of NHL.com. Gustavsson struggled Tuesday, allowing four goals on 18 shots before he was pulled early in the second period against the Blues. It was a rare bad game for the Swedish netminder, who is 18-6-3 with three shutouts, a 2.31 GAA and a .922 save percentage in 28 outings this season. He will face the Avalanche, who are converting 3.33 goals per game in 2024-25.
