McAvoy had a hand in Boston's lone goal of the game, which was netted by Pavel Zacha on a first-period power play. The apple brings McAvoy up to 16 assists, 33 shots on net, 30 hits and 40 blocks through 23 games this season. The power-play assist was the 27-year-old blueliner's second across four games since his return from a facial injury. When he's been in the lineup, McAvoy has performed well in each area of the game outside of finding the back of the net. He has already matched his assist output through 50 games a year ago and could be trending toward another 40-point season if he can stay healthy. The all-around play from Boston's top defenseman gives him strong value in nearly all fantasy formats moving forward.

McAvoy missed 11 games due to his injury sustained Nov. 15 in Montreal. He returned to his usual top-pairing role, and there was no easing in after Jonathan Aspirot (upper body) left the contest after one period. McAvoy is up to 15 helpers, including six on the power play, while adding 29 shots on net, 27 hits, 28 PIM, 33 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 20 appearances this season.

He was injured Nov. 15 in Montreal when struck in the face by the puck. McAvoy has 14 assists in 19 games this season. Should McAvoy play, look for Jonathan Aspirot to head to the press box.

  McAvoy (face) will travel with the Bruins ahead of their three-game road trip that begins Tuesday in St. Louis, and he hopes to return at some point during the trip, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reports. McAvoy has been sidelined since mid-November after being hit in the face by a slap shot against the Canadiens on Nov. 15. However, he resumed skating in late November and appears to be drawing closer to a return. The 27-year-old hasn't yet received final clearance to return to game action, but it seems possible that he'll be back on the ice at some point within the next three matchups.
