Buchnevich agreed to terms on a six-year, $48 million contract extension with St. Louis on Tuesday. Buchnevich has reached the 60-point threshold in each of the past three seasons with the Blues, including hitting the 25-goal mark in all of those campaigns. There is no reason to expect any sort of production drop-off for the Russian winger heading into 2024-25, so fantasy players should be looking at him in the early rounds of re-draft formats.

Buchnevich contributed 27 goals and 36 assists across 80 games during 2023-24. Buchnevich scored 26 goals and added 41 assists last season, but he managed that total across just 63 contests. However, Buchnevich had a 21.1 shooting percentage in 2023-24, so some regression was anticipated. By contrast, the 29-year-old succeeded on 13.0 percent of his shots this year, which is more in line with his career average of 14.6. The 29-year-old winger is heading into the final season of his contract carrying a $5.8 million cap hit. The Blues will try to sign him to an extension this summer, but if he doesn't put pen to paper, the Russian winger will be subjected to trade speculation.

Buchnevich supplied a power-play assist in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes. The Blues were officially knocked out of playoff contention Friday, but we expect that Buchnevich will continue playing at a high level for the two games that remain on their regular-season schedule. After all, he's sporting an active five-game point streak comprised of a goal and four assists, with three of those helpers taking place on the man advantage. Currently the Blues' fourth-highest paid forward with a $5.8 million AAV, Buchnevich will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Buchnevich scored a goal on four shots in Sunday's 6-5 shootout win over the Ducks. Buchnevich's goal stretched the Blues' lead to 4-2 late in the second period. He has three goals and nine assists over his last 11 outings while maintaining a significant top-six role. The 28-year-old is up to 27 goals, 61 points, 200 shots on net, 48 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 76 contests overall. It's a strong year, but it's likely to be the worst of his three campaigns in St. Louis.

Buchnevich notched an assist, four shots on goal, three blocked shots, two hits, two PIM and a minus-3 rating in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Predators. Buchnevich did a little bit of everything while again lining up as the second-line center. The 28-year-old forward has 10 points over his last nine games, but he hasn't shown much consistency from one contest to another. He's at 59 points, 195 shots on net, 48 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 74 outings this season, putting him on track for his worst point total in three years as a Blue.
