Buchnevich netted his fifth goal of the season Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Buffalo. Buchnevich tied the score at 2-2 in the middle frame after being assisted by Jordan Kyrou. Buchnevich has been inconsistent during the early portion of the campaign -- Thursday marked only the second time this season that the Russian forward has produced points in back-to-back games. Overall, the 29-year-old has banked five goals, six assists and a minus-2 rating over 17 appearances while filling a top-line role and spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Buchnevich provided two assists Thursday in a 4-2 loss to Utah. Buchnevich registered the primary assist on each of St. Louis' goals in the loss, and it was his third multi-point effort of the season. The left-shot winger added one shot, one hit and a minus-2 rating in 18:37 of ice time. Buchnevich has been streaky early on in the season -- seven of his nine points have come in three games combined. The 29-year-old is in a three-way tie for second on the team in points, and overall, he's up to four goals, five assists, seven PIM, 24 shots, 10 blocks, nine hits, five takeaways and an even plus-minus rating over 14 outings.

Buchnevich scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added five PIM in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Buchnevich took out some frustration on Pontus Holmberg following the Toronto forward's slash against Jake Neighbours in the third period. Buchnevich was released from the penalty box in time to score an empty-netter, ending a three-game dry spell on offense. The 29-year-old has four goals, three assists, 20 shots on net, eight hits, 10 blocked shots, seven PIM and a plus-3 rating over 12 contests this season. That's modest offense for a player that's topped the 60-point mark in three straight years, though he may be hampered by focusing on the increased defensive responsibilities that have come with his move to playing center full-time -- he's also a paltry 42-for-144 on faceoffs, a 29.2 percent win rate.

Buchnevich put up two assists Thursday in a 5-1 win over Toronto. The points were his first in five games. The Buchnevich experiment at 1C seems to be working in all parts of the game except at the faceoff dot. He was schooled there Thursday, winning just four of 15 (26.7 percent). There will be more pressure on him now that Robert Thomas faces a six-week absence due to a broken ankle. That could impact Buchnevich's offense, but it could also be his catalyst to excellence.

Buchnevich scored twice on four shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights. Buchnevich had a point in each period, including a power-play tally in the second frame. He's up to three goals, one assist, nine shots on net and a plus-5 rating through three contests. Buchnevich is among the most talented forwards on the Blues' roster, and he's played at a point-per-game pace in two of the last three years, so this burst of offense to begin the year isn't too surprising. Fantasy managers can have him in their lineups with confidence.
