  • Byfield (illness) is expected back in the lineup against Florida on Wednesday, Jared Shafran of LA Kings Insider reports. Byfield is poised to step into a second-line role heading into Wednesday's matchup after missing just one game due to his illness. The 23-year-old forward is mired in a 13-game goal drought during which he has notched three helpers, four PIM and 24 shots.

  • Byfield has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Stars due to an illness, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports. Byfield is dealing with the flu and will be held out for at least one game. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return for Wednesday's game against the Panthers, but he should tentatively be considered day-to-day. Andrei Kuzmenko will likely enter the lineup Monday.

The 23-year-old Byfield has five points in his last three games and is up to 17 points through 19 games this season. He's well above the pace needed to top his career-best 55-point regular season in 2023-24. Byfield is second on the Kings in points behind Adrian Kempe.

He has scored the winner in two consecutive games and has four points (two goals, two assists) in that span. Byfield is taking that next big step in his game this season. He has four goals, 12 assists and 44 shots in 18 games.

  • Byfield produced the game-winning goal on a team-high five shots on net while adding an assist and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Canadiens. Both points came in the second period as the Kings erased an early 1-0 deficit. Byfield has yet to go on an extended hot streak this season, but the 23-year-old center has been productive. He has three goals and 14 points in 17 games, including five points (one goal, four helpers) on the power play.
