Patrick has decided to end his playing career, Dylan H. Robillard of The Hockey News reports Wednesday. Patrick was selected by the Flyers with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, but unfortunately, concussion issues plagued him throughout his short career. He had 32 goals and 77 points in 222 contests over four seasons with Philadelphia and Vegas. Patrick also appeared in six playoff contests with the Flyers, contributing a goal and an assist.

Vegas did not qualify Patrick (upper body) on Friday, making him an unrestricted free agent, Steve Carp of The Sporting Tribune reports. Patrick missed the entire 2022-23 campaign and it's unclear if he'll ever return to the NHL. Injuries have piled up on the 2017 NHL Entry Draft's second overall pick, limiting him to just 222 career NHL games.

Patrick (upper body) is not expected to play this season, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports Monday. At this point, it's possible Patrick has played his final NHL game considering he has previously seen an entire year lost to injury. If the 24-year-old center is indeed done, he will eventually retire when his contract expires at the end of the season having appeared in just 222 games after being selected second overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. At a minimum, Patrick will spend the year on long-term injured reserve in order to give the Knights some much-needed cap relief.

Patrick (upper body) is likely to begin the 2022-23 season on long-term injured reserve, Sam Carchidi of Philly Hockey Now reports. Patrick sustained this latest upper-body injury in late March, and as of July, he'd made no substantial progress in his recovery. The 23-year-old center has dealt with traumatic head injuries for much of his professional career, and it's expected he'll be forced to miss at least the first month of the upcoming season -- and likely much more.

Patrick (undisclosed) has not made substantial progress in recovering from an injury he sustained in March, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports. Patrick's long history of traumatic head injuries is certainly a point of concern, though the Golden Knights have not revealed what's ailing the 23-year-old. He was deemed out indefinitely at the end of the season, and with no progress made so far, it seems likely the center will miss part of the 2022-23 campaign.
