Tolvanen inked a two-year, $6.95 million contract with the Kraken on Friday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Tolvanen had a career-best 41 points in 81 regular-season appearances with Seattle in 2023-24. The 25-year-old is slated to be a middle-six forward, but he will see plenty of power-play time, including with the first unit, next season.

Tolvanen notched two assists, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Tolvanen has been boom or bust lately with three multi-point efforts and five scoreless outings over his last eight games. The 24-year-old helped out on goals by linemates Matty Beniers and Oliver Bjorkstrand in the first period. Tolvanen's inconsistency of late shouldn't detract from his career year of 41 points, 147 shots on net, 191 hits, 73 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating over 74 appearances.

Tolvanen scored a goal on four shots, added two assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Ducks. Tolvanen opened the scoring at 7:50 of the first period and then set up goals by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Matty Beniers in the second. That trio of forwards played on a line together Tuesday, and the chemistry is encouraging, even against the lowly Ducks. Tolvanen has 16 goals, 39 points, 145 shots on net, 179 hits, 70 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating through 71 appearances. He's earned seven of those points over 12 contests in March.
