Kampf (lower body) was moved to long-term injured reserve Wednesday and will be unavailable until at least Dec. 14 against the Red Wings, David Alter of The Hockey News reports. Kampf was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, retroactive to Nov. 16, and he'll be ineligible to return for nearly a month after moving to long-term injured reserve, a transaction that helped free up salary cap space to call up Nikita Grebenkin on Wednesday. It's not yet clear whether Kampf will be able to suit up when he's first eligible to return, but a better idea of his recovery timetable could come into focus over the next few weeks.

Kampf was designated for injured reserve Tuesday with a lower-body injury retroactive to Nov. 16. Kampf played 14:22 of ice time in that Nov. 16 matchup with Edmonton, which is actually above his season average (12:18), so it's not immediately clear when he got hurt. Technically, the 29-year-old winger will only have to miss one game -- Wednesday's matchup with Vegas -- before he can be activated, though it could be longer once the team provides a more concrete update.

Kampf notched an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Blues. Kampf ended an eight-game point drought with the helper. In that span, he went minus-5 with nine shots on net and eight hits, and he was also scratched once. The 29-year-old is one of the Maple Leafs' better defense-only forwards, but he could still be out of the lineup on occasion. He has two assists, 11 shots on net, nine hits, three blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in 11 appearances this season.

Kampf logged an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Devils. The fourth-line center found linemate Steven Lorentz for a first-period tally, which stood as the game-winner. Kampf looks poised to be in the Toronto lineup regularly as he has been for the last three years. He was limited to 19 points in 78 regular-season contests in 2023-24, his lowest output since he joined the Maple Leafs, but he carries more value on the ice than in fantasy due to his defensive acumen.

Kampf scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins in Game 1. Kampf had the Maple Leafs' lone tally in the third, but it was too late to turn things around for the team. The 29-year-old forward had 19 points in 78 regular-season appearances, his least productive of three campaigns since he joined Toronto. He'll likely remain on the fourth line for now, though he could lose his place in the lineup once Bobby McMann (lower body) or William Nylander (undisclosed) are able to play.
