  Miroshnichenko was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday. Miroshnichenko will get to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs following Washington's first-round elimination at the hands of the Rangers on Sunday. The 20-year-old forward had nine goals and 25 points in 47 minor-league outings during the 2023-24 regular season.

Miroshnichenko extended Washington's lead to 5-0 late in the second period, burying a loose puck in front of the net for his first NHL goal in his fifth game. Miroshnichenko still has room to grow at the NHL level -- the 2020 first-round pick offers high-end offensive potential. He should get an extended opportunity in Washington following Anthony Mantha's trade to the Golden Knights.

Miroshnichenko played in Saturday's game but failed to record a point for the third straight contest to begin his NHL career. If the Capitals get injured forwards back following the holiday break, the 19-year-old winger may remain in the AHL.
