• Calen Addison: Receives AHL-only deal

  Addison signed an AHL-only contract with AHL Henderson on Thursday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Addison was in the Senators' training camp in September, but he didn't make their roster. The 24-year-old defenseman has displayed some power-play skills at the NHL level, but worries about his defense likely limited his market.

  The Senators released Addison from his PTO on Saturday. Addison was once highly regarded as an offensive force from the back end. He had three goals and 29 points, including 18 assists on the power play, in 62 regular-season games in 2022-23 for Minnesota. Unfortunately, Addison has fallen, managing only a goal and 16 helpers in 72 regular-season appearances between the Wild and Sharks in 2023-24. He will try to catch on somewhere, but he could spend the 2024-25 season in the minors.

• Senators' Calen Addison: Secures tryout

  Addison penned a professional tryout agreement with Ottawa on Thursday. Addison saw action in 60 games for the Sharks last season in which he tallied one goal and 11 assists while averaging 17:21 of ice time. The 24-year-old blueliner didn't quite live up to his 2022-23 numbers when he posted 29 points in 62 contests while with the Wild. Still, the Manitoba native could be given some leeway for having struggled on the worst team in the league last year. If Ottawa can get 30 points out of Addison in 2024-25, he will be well worth whatever full contract the club might give him.

• Calen Addison: Won't return to Sharks

  Addison, who would have been a restricted free agent July 1, will not be re-signed by the Sharks, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports Monday. As such, Addison will be an unrestricted free agent when the market opens Monday. Addison saw action in 60 games for San Jose this season in which he garnered one goal on 75 shots, 11 assists and six power-play points after he was traded from the Wild. While he may not rejoin the Sharks, the 24-year-old blueliner should earn a contract somewhere in the NHL. Depending on where he ends up, Addison could be in line for minutes with the No. 2 power-play unit, which would bolster his fantasy value.

• Sharks' Calen Addison: Gathers assist

  Addison notched an assist and went minus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blackhawks. Addison has three helpers over 12 outings in March. He's been able to stick in the lineup regularly this month after ending February with two healthy scratches. The 23-year-old blueliner is up to 17 points, 78 shots on net, 73 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-34 rating through 60 contests between the Sharks and the Wild. Nine of his points have come on the power play, but the Sharks' lack of consistent talent limits Addison's appeal, even with a spot on the first unit.
