The 23-year-old center has been playing on the top line lately, but it hasn't unlocked more offense for him with just two points over four contests since the promotion. He's at nine goals, 12 assists, 94 shots on net, 86 hits, 45 PIM and a minus-13 rating over 42 appearances this season, offering limited upside for fantasy outside of formats that reward toughness.

Cozens registered both of his fantasy contributions in the first period, finding the twine in the final seconds of the frame after setting up Jack Quinn's goal. He's been on a roll of late, posting back-to-back multi-point efforts for the first time this season and also cracking the scoresheet in four of his last five appearances. Cozens has racked up nine points (three goals, six assists) in 12 December outings.

Cozens registered multiple assists in a single game for the first time this season, and the 23-year-old playmaker has been playing well of late with points in three of his last four outings. He has seven points in 11 December outings (two goals, five assists) and should continue to find decent opportunities to keep producing due to his top-six role, as well as his presence in the team's second power-play unit.

Cozens provided the lone highlight of the night for Buffalo with a second-period snipe as a trailer from the high slot that beat Montreal goalie Sam Montembeault glove-side. The goal was Cozens' seventh of the season and first in six outings.

Cozens produced a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Vancouver. Cozens helped his club earn a point Friday -- he cut Vancouver's lead to 3-2 before registering the primary assist on Alex Tuch's game-tying goal at 14:57 of the third period. That point for Buffalo could be crucial down the line for a team that is battling to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Cozens has the ability to be an important player for the Sabres -- he accounted for 31 goals and 68 points across 81 regular-season games in 2022-23, but followed that up with 18 goals and 47 points over 79 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Cozens has notched five goals and five assists through 23 games.
