• Jets' David Gustafsson: Can't break into lineup

  Gustafsson has played just one of the Jets' first 21 games of 2024-25. Gustafsson was dealing with a lower-body injury early on, but he was cleared to play Oct. 20. That was his lone appearance -- the 17-4-0 Jets have opted to stick with what works amid a fantastic start to the campaign. Barring injuries or a team-wide slump, it doesn't look like Gustafsson will be seeing much playing time this season.

  Gustafsson (lower body) will play Sunday against Pittsburgh, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press. Gustafsson will make his season debut after missing the first four games. He will replace Rasmus Kupari in Sunday's lineup. The 24-year-old Gustafsson registered three goals, seven points, 27 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and 30 hits across 39 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.

  Gustafsson (lower body) will not be an option versus the Sharks on Friday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports. Gustafsson has yet to get into the lineup for the Jets this season due to his lingering lower-body problem. The forward has been practicing with the team, so it's possible he's recovered from his injury concern but just hasn't earned a spot in the lineup yet. Still, Gustafsson should see some minutes sooner rather than later.

  Gustafsson (lower body) won't be in the lineup Sunday versus Minnesota. Gustafsson will miss his third straight contest to begin the 2024-25 campaign. Winnipeg will be off until Friday against San Jose, giving him additional time to recover, but Gustafsson could serve as a healthy scratch once he is available to return.

Gustafsson will miss a second straight game to begin the season after sustaining an injury late in the preseason. The Jets will roll out a lineup that's unchanged from their season-opening 6-0 win over the Oilers on Wednesday. Gustafsson's next chance to draw in is Sunday against the Wild.
