    Stars' Oskar Back: Tallies in Friday's win

    Back scored a goal in Friday's 5-3 win over the Canucks.

    Back had two goals, nine shots on net and 11 blocked shots over 15 outings in January. The 24-year-old continues to hold down a fourth-line job, so it's no surprise that his offense is limited. For the season, he has 11 points, 27 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 19 hits and a plus-4 rating across 46 appearances. He could be at risk of losing his place in the lineup once Mason Marchment (face) returns.

    Flames' Morgan Frost: Playing Saturday

    Frost (undisclosed) will make his Calgary debut against Detroit on Saturday, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.

    Frost didn't finish Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Islanders due to an injury before being traded by Philadelphia to the Flames. However, he won't miss additional playing time. Based on Saturday's morning skate, Frost will center the third line and get time on the top power-play unit. He has 11 goals and 14 assists in 49 contests this season, including a goal and six helpers with the man advantage.

    Hurricanes' Jordan Staal: Game-time call

    Staal (illness) will be a game-time decision against the Kings on Saturday, according to Peter Dewar of the Hurricanes' official site.

    Staal missed the morning skate and joins Sebastian Aho (illness) and Taylor Hall (illness) as game-time calls for Saturday's matchup. The 36-year-old Staal has 10 goals, 27 points, 72 shots on net, 31 blocked shots and 96 hits across 52 appearances this season. If Aho and Hall play against the Kings, Ryan Suzuki could replace Staal in the lineup.

  • Predators' Colton Sissons: Contributes helper Friday

    Sissons produced an assist and three shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

    Sissons had eight points over 12 games in January after entering the month with just five points across his first 37 contests of the season. The 31-year-old's uptick in offense has helped him carve out a bit more ice time -- his average was 15:16 in January compared to 14:09 in the three months prior. The forward also has 66 hits, 49 blocked shots, 54 shots on net and a minus-12 rating this season, but he's set himself up well for a strong second half.

  • Predators' Fedor Svechkov: Adds helper Friday

    Svechkov notched an assist and two hits in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

    Svechkov remains listed on the third line, though this was the third time in 12 games in January where he failed to reach 10 minutes of ice time. The 21-year-old forward was productive for the month, earning four goals and three assists in his bottom-six role. Overall, Svechkov has nine points, 33 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 21 appearances.

    O'Reilly logged an assist and four shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

    O'Reilly's 800th career point came against one of his former teams -- he played for Buffalo from 2015-16 to 2017-18. The center achieved his latest milestone in his 1,120th game, and he sits four goals away from 300 in his career. It's been a bit of a down year for the 33-year-old in 2024-25 -- he has 14 goals, 15 assists, 91 shots on net, 44 blocked shots and a minus-13 rating over 47 appearances, but he was alright in January with seven points over 12 contests.

    Predators' Thomas Novak: Scores again Friday

    Novak scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

    Novak was limited to 11:53 of ice time in the loss but maintained his power-play spot on the second unit. The 27-year-old has done well despite a limited role lately, earning four goals and four assists over his last six outings. For the season, he's at a less inspiring 17 points with 72 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 41 appearances. Novak is worth a look at least as a streaming option for fantasy managers in need of offense.

    Sabres' Ryan McLeod: Opens scoring Friday

    McLeod scored a goal and went minus-2 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Predators.

    McLeod opened the scoring just 2:25 into the first period. The 25-year-old forward has a point in each of the last two contests. He's centering the third line, so his offense may not be very steady unless he's able to work his way back into the top six on a regular basis. For the season, the center has 11 goals, 26 points, 52 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over 48 appearances. McLeod is four points shy of matching his career-best output from 81 regular-season outings with the Oilers last year.

  • Stars' Mikael Granlund: Acquired in trade

    Dallas acquired Granlund and Cody Ceci from San Jose on Saturday in exchange for a 2025 first-round pick and a conditional 2025 third-round selection.

    Granlund has accounted for 15 goals, 45 points, 126 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and 37 hits through 52 appearances this season. He is eligible for unrestricted free agency in the summer. Granlund is a versatile forward who will add some additional scoring punch to Dallas' middle-six group, and he should see power-play time.

    Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Playing Saturday

    Tavares (lower body) will return to the lineup in Edmonton on Saturday. according to David Alter of The Hockey News.

    Tavares has missed the last six games and will regain his spot on the second line, between William Nylander and Max Pacioretty. Tavares has 20 goals and 22 assists in 44 NHL games this season, including seven goals and nine points on the power play.
