Blake Coleman C | CGY
Flames' Blake Coleman: Nets lone goal in loss
Coleman scored a power-play goal on four shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.
Coleman's second-period tally briefly tied the game at 1-1. The 33-year-old has three goals and seven assists over 12 appearances in January, making this his best month of the campaign. He's now at 11 goals and 27 points -- including a career-best four on the power play -- through 49 outings this season. Coleman has rounded out his numbers with 116 shots on net, 96 hits, 40 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating.

Lars Eller C | OTT
Capitals' Lars Eller: Deals assist in win
Eller recorded an assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Eller set up Aliaksei Protas' breakaway tally in the third period. It's been an acceptable month for Eller, who has two goals and two assists over 13 appearances in January while filling his usual third-line role. The center is at 17 points, 63 shots on net, 37 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 48 appearances between the Capitals and the Penguins this season.

Alexei Protas C | WAS
Capitals' Aliaksei Protas: Adds insurance tally
Protas scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Just after the Capitals killed a penalty, Protas got loose and buried a goal on the breakaway to produce the final score. He has three goals and three assists during his five-game point streak. The 24-year-old is up to 21 goals, 42 points, 87 shots and a plus-29 rating through 50 appearances in a breakout campaign. He should continue to see steady top-six minutes.

Nick Suzuki C | MON
Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Logs assist in loss
Suzuki had an assist, three shots on net, one block and one hit in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Winnipeg.
Suzuki appeared to catch Connor Hellebuyck by surprise with his pass from behind the net to Juraj Slafkovsky, who beat the netminder to give Montreal a 1-0 lead. Suzuki has four points in the last two games and leads the Canadiens with 36 assists through 50 outings.

Dylan Strome C | WAS
Capitals' Dylan Strome: Ends goal drought
Strome scored a power-play goal on two shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
Strome had been limited to two helpers over his last 10 outings since a three-point effort versus the Rangers on Jan. 4. The Capitals' offense has quieted a bit in recent weeks, but Strome had mostly avoided long droughts earlier in the season. The 27-year-old center is up to 13 tallies, 47 points (20 on the power play), 87 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and a plus-11 rating through 50 appearances. He's still on pace for a career year despite the January slump.

Tage Thompson C | BUF
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Ten points in last seven games
Thompson scored a hat trick and had an assist in a 7-2 win over the Bruins on Tuesday.
Thompson and JJ Peterka both notched hatties. They are the first pair of Sabres to record a hat trick in the same game since Derek Roy and Derek Stafford did it Jan. 18, 2008 in a 10-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers. Thompson has 10 points, including six goals, and 26 shots in his last seven appearances, and he's finally on the edge of a point-per-game pace (44, including 25 goals, in 45 games). Thompson is on pace to top 40 goals this season.

Rasmus Kupari C | WPG
Jets' Rasmus Kupari: Finishes off Montreal
Kupari scored a goal on two shots, blocked three shot attempts and recorded two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Montreal.
Kupari cruised in for an empty-net goal, sealing Winnipeg's fourth consecutive win. It's been a long time since the third-line center had that feeling; the goal snapped a 12-game drought. Kupari has just four goals and two assists through 48 outings.

Gabriel Vilardi C | WPG
Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Two more assists
Vilardi had two assists and three blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Canadiens.
Winnipeg's top line was prominent for a second straight contest. After accounting for four goals in Sunday's win over Calgary, the trio of Vilardi, Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor potted three against Montreal. Vilardi, who had two goals and two assists against Calgary, now has points in four straight, posting three goals and five assists during the streak. He's already established career highs in points (49) and assists (27) and is on his way to a new benchmark for goals. He has 22 markers through 52 games, one off from the 23 he scored over 63 games in 2022 while with the Kings.

Mark Scheifele C | WPG
Jets' Mark Scheifele: Logs game-winner Tuesday
Scheifele scored a goal on one shot in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Montreal.
Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi worked a give-and-go to for Winnipeg's first lead of the game. It turned out to be the game-winner, Scheifele's seventh of the campaign. It was the second straight outing with a goal for the first-line center, who's on a point-per-game pace this month with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) over 13 contests.

John Hayden C | SEA
Kraken's John Hayden: Drops to AHL
Hayden was reassigned to AHL Coachella Valley on Tuesday.
Hayden was close to exhausting his waiver exemption after clearing at the beginning of the year and having two stints on the NHL roster. It's also possible Yanni Gourde (lower body) will be ready to play Thursday versus the Sharks. Hayden has two points, 19 hits and six shots on goal over seven appearances at the NHL level this year, but he'll likely have to wait for injuries among the Kraken's forwards to occur before he might get another look.
