  • Bruins' Mark Kastelic: Moves to IR

Kastelic (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Kastelic will not play in Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay. Kastelic's move to the IR list allowed the Bruins to recall Matthew Poitras from the minors to potentially replace Charlie Coyle, who is dealing with an illness. Coyle will be a game-time decision. Kastelic is currently day-to-day, and a timeline for his return is still unclear.

  • Maple Leafs' Calle Jarnkrok: Still two weeks out

Jarnkrok (sports hernia) will be re-evaluated in two weeks to determine a clearer recovery timeline, David Alter of The Hockey News reports Tuesday.

Jarnkrok has yet to get into a game this season and seems unlikely to be cleared ahead of the NHL shutdown for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Even once cleared to play, the 33-year-old forward figures to serve primarily in a bottom-six role and could struggle to produce much in the way of offensive upside.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Game-time decision

Malkin (upper body) will be a game-time decision versus Seattle on Tuesday, according to Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.

Malkin participated fully in Tuesday's morning skate while working on the second line and second power-play unit. He has amassed eight goals, 32 points, 71 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and 20 hits across 41 appearances this season. With Michael Bunting (undisclosed) ready to return and Malkin trending toward playing after missing four games, Jesse Puljujarvi and Matt Nieto could be healthy scratches versus the Kraken.

  • Flames' Yegor Sharangovich: Two-point effort in win

Sharangovich scored a shorthanded goal and added an even-strength assist in Monday's 5-2 win over Chicago.

Both points came in the second period as the Flames put the game away. Sharangovich produced his first multi-point performance since Nov. 21 and snapped a 15-game goal drought while skating on a line with Jakob Pelletier and Rory Kerins, who was making his NHL debut. The trio dominated with a combined three goals and seven points. Look for the unit to stay together when Calgary begins a two-game set in St. Louis on Tuesday.

  • Rory Kerins C | CGY

Flames' Rory Kerins: Two helpers in NHL debut

Kerins picked up two assists in Monday's 5-2 win over Chicago.

Making his NHL debut, the 22-year-old flashed immediate chemistry on a line with Yegor Sharangovich and Jakob Pelletier, as the trio combined for three goals and seven points. Kerins was on fire at AHL Calgary prior to his promotion, erupting for a league-leading 21 goals and 34 points in 34 games, and the 2020 sixth-round pick doesn't seem inclined to slow down now that he's getting a crack at the top level.

  • Sam Reinhart C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Big night on special teams

Reinhart scored two goals, one shorthanded and one on the power play, in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.

The shortie was Reinhart's fifth of the season, tops in the NHL, while the PP tally was his ninth. The 29-year-old winger is up to 27 goals overall in 44 appearances, putting him second in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy behind Leon Draisaitl's 31, and Reinhart's 51 points puts him on pace for his second straight 90-point campaign.

  • Blue Jackets' Zach Aston-Reese: Ready to play against Flyers

Aston-Reese (upper body) will be in the lineup versus Philadelphia on Tuesday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Aston-Reese was injured against the Blues on Saturday but seems no worse for the wear and will remain in the lineup for Tuesday's tilt. Despite being mired in a 10-game pointless streak and 27-game goal drought, the Jackets' penned the 30-year-old winger to a one-year contract extension Monday, so clearly they aren't concerned about his offensive production.

  • Boone Jenner C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner: Poised to return following break

Jenner (shoulder) is reportedly ahead of schedule and could return to action after the 4 Nations Face-Off, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports Tuesday.

After the NHL goes on break for the international tournament, the Jackets will resume their seasons against Chicago on Feb 22, so fantasy players may want to circle that date for a potential Jenner return. Given his scoring pace last season, the 31-year-old winger could put up around 15 points in the 26 games he'd have remaining in the regular season, assuming he does in fact play versus the Hawks and avoids any other stints on the shelf.

  • Sean Monahan C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Sean Monahan: Out at least two weeks

Monahan will wear a brace on his injured wrist for two weeks before being reevaluated, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports Tuesday.

Given this news, it appears Monahan could return prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off, with a late January or early February timeline. Prior to getting hurt, the veteran center was absolutely red hot with points in seven of his last nine outings, including five multi-point efforts. Over that stretch, the Ontario native put up five goals and 11 helpers, with five of those points coming with the man advantage. For now, Adam Fantilli will get the first crack at a top-line role, though Cole Sillinger could also be in contention.

  • Ivan Ivan C | COL

Avalanche's Ivan Ivan: Returned to AHL

Ivan (upper body) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Colorado on Monday.

Ivan will shake off some rust in the minors after missing seven games due to injury. He has five goals, eight points and 34 shots on net across 37 NHL appearances this season. Given the injury issues plaguing the Avalanche, the 22-year-old forward will probably see more time with the big club this campaign.
