  • Leo Carlsson C | ANA

Ducks' Leo Carlsson: Contributes power-play helper

Carlsson notched a power-play assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers.

Carlsson has a point in each of the first two games in January after being limited to one goal over 10 appearances in December. He took some time to get on track after losing six contests to an upper-body injury, and he was also bothered by an undisclosed issue prior to the holiday break. The 20-year-old center is at eight goals, six helpers, four power-play points, 44 shots on net and a minus-1 rating through 32 appearances. If he's starting to heat up, Carlsson should be on the radar for most fantasy managers throughout January despite his relatively mild production so far this season.

  • Ryan Strome C | CGY

Ducks' Ryan Strome: Notches power-play assist

Strome recorded a power-play assist and blocked two shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers.

Strome's point streak is up to four games (two goals, three assists). This was his first power-play points since Dec. 12 versus the Maple Leafs. The 31-year-old center is making the most of his top-line role, though the Ducks' low-scoring offense often leads to even their top players being streaky. Strome is at seven goals, 14 helpers, four power-play points, 68 shots on net, 23 hits, 21 blocked shots, 21 PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 38 appearances.

  • Zach Hyman C | EDM

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Provides helper in win

Hyman notched an assist and three shots on goal in Friday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Hyman has gone four games without a goal, but he has an assist in three of them. He saw his eight-game point streak end in a 4-1 win over Utah on Tuesday before getting back on the scoresheet Friday. The winger was listed on the third line against the Ducks and was under 18 minutes of ice time for the third game in a row, but he continues to be a part of the top power-play unit, so his offense shouldn't suffer too much. Hyman has 13 goals, nine helpers, 92 shots on net, 30 hits, 16 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 33 outings this season.

  • Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Opens scoring on power play

Nugent-Hopkins scored a power-play goal on four shots in Friday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Nugent-Hopkins' pass attempt banked in off an Anaheim player's skate for the opening goal. The goal was his third in the last four games, two of which have come on the power play. The 31-year-old forward is up to nine tallies, 21 points (eight on the power play), 77 shots on net and a plus-3 rating over 37 appearances this season. He continues to see the bulk of his time in a top-six role and on the first power-play unit.

  • Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Secures win late in third period

Draisaitl scored a goal on four shots and added two PIM in Friday's 3-2 win over the Ducks.

Draisaitl has scored four goals over his last three contests and has racked up 11 goals and 14 assists during a 13-game point streak. His tally Friday was the game-winner, his ninth such goal this season among 28 overall. The 29-year-old has added 29 assists, 116 shots on net, 12 PIM and a plus-21 rating through 38 appearances. He's on pace to top the 50-goal mark for the third time in four years and the fourth time in his career.

  • Dylan Holloway LW | STL

    Blues' Dylan Holloway: Generates helper

Holloway logged an assist, two shots on goal and three hits in Friday's 4-0 win over the Senators.

Holloway has four goals and four assists over his last five games. He sprung Brayden Schenn for a breakaway goal at 7:26 of the first period after picking off of an Ottawa pass. Holloway continues to impress in a middle-six role with 27 points, 95 shots on net, 79 hits and a plus-9 rating. He's often been streaky, but he adds ample offense and physicality when everything's going right, so it's worth riding out the quiet stretches.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Picks up helper

Thomas logged an assist and three shots on goal in Friday's 4-0 win over the Senators.

Thomas helped out on the second of Brandon Saad's three goals in the game. Since the start of December, Thomas has six goals and 14 assists over 15 contests. That's a pretty standard split of his points, as the 25-year-old continues to function as a top-line playmaker, but he's found another level of offense under new head coach Jim Montgomery. For the season, Thomas has eight goals, 22 helpers, 58 shots on net and a plus-10 rating through 28 contests.

  • Blues' Brayden Schenn: Nets breakaway goal

Schenn scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Friday's 4-0 win over the Senators.

Schenn has two goals and two assists over his last five outings. He converted on a breakaway sprung by Dylan Holloway's pass. The 33-year-old Schenn has provided decent depth scoring while filling a middle-six role for a majority of 2024-25. The center has seven goals, 21 points, 80 shots on net, 91 hits, 31 blocked shots, 37 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 40 appearances this season.

  • Tommy Novak C | PIT

Predators' Thomas Novak: Won't be available Friday

Novak (upper body) won't play Friday versus the Canucks.

Fedor Svechkov was called up Friday, and it appears Novak's injury is the reason why the Predators needed a forward. Novak will miss at least one game and is considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's contest in Calgary.

  • Penguins' Philip Tomasino: Exits Friday's contest

Tomasino (lower body) won't finish Friday's game versus the Panthers.

Tomasino went hard into the boards in the third period and appeared to have trouble with his right leg as he exited the ice, per Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site. If Tomasino misses time, Anthony Beauvillier will likely enter the lineup in a bottom-six role.
