  • Blue Jackets' Mathieu Olivier: Misses practice Wednesday

Olivier was absent from practice Wednesday due to a lower-body injury and is questionable heading into Thursday's clash with Washington, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

According to head coach Dean Evason, the team is optimistic that Olivier and Justin Danforth (lower body) will both be available versus the Capitals but that it's not guaranteed. The 27-year-old Olivier has underwhelmed of late with just one point over his last seven appearances while also registering a mere six shots during that stretch. Mikael Pyyhtia figures to slot into the lineup if either Olivier or Danforth can't play Thursday.

  • Tyson Jost C | NSH

Hurricanes' Tyson Jost: Up from minors

Jost was called up from AHL Chicago on Wednesday.

Jost has four goals and nine points in 14 appearances with the Wolves in 2024-25. He's also scored a goal across seven outings with Carolina. Jost might draw into the Hurricanes' lineup Friday because Jack Drury is dealing with an upper-body injury.

  • Jets' Mark Scheifele: Three points including GWG

Scheifele scored two goals, one the game-winner and the other on the power play, and he added an assist in Tuesday's 8-1 rout of Boston.

The 31-year-old center gave Winnipeg a 2-0 lead late in the first period, and the Jets didn't blow the game open until the third. Scheifele extended his point streak to five games in the process, a stretch in which he's piled up four goals and eight points, and on the season he's delivered 16 goals through 30 contests -- tying him for eighth in the NHL with teammate Kyle Connor.

  • Luke Kunin C | FLA

Sharks' Luke Kunin: Lights lamp twice in loss

Kunin scored two goals in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes.

The veteran forward gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, but the struggling team couldn't make it hold up. It was Kunin's first multi-goal performance of the season, but he's been surprisingly productive with eight goals and 12 points over 31 games -- a pace that gives him a shot at topping the career-high 15 goals and 31 points he produced for the Wild in 2019-20.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Scores vs. Lightning

McDavid scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Lightning.

McDavid has been an absolute scoring machine this season and looks well on his way to another impressive campaign. The consensus No. 1 overall pick in most fantasy drafts this season is living up to the expectations. Since missing three straight games between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4 due to an ankle injury, the 27-year-old center has posted 11 goals and 17 assists in only 15 games. He's already up to 38 points over 25 appearances in 2024-25, and he looks on pace to record a fifth straight 100-point season.

  • Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Another multi-point effort

Draisaitl was credited with a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Lightning.

Draisaitl set up Connor McDavid's goal in the latter stages of the first period, and then he'd get credit for the game-winning goal in the second frame. Draisaitl's breakaway attempt was denied by Andrei Vasilevskiy, but the netminder attempted to clear the puck away only to see it bounce off Victor Hedman's leg to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead. The star center has posted three straight multi-point performances, a feat he's also achieved in five of his last seven contests and six of his previous nine. That translates to 14 points over that nine-game stretch. One of the most productive forwards in the league this season, Draisaitl is up to 38 points (20 goals, 18 assists) in only 28 appearances so far.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Keeps scoring run alive

Guentzel scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Oilers.

Guentzel found the back of the net midway through the second period following set-ups from Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, but the Lightning still lost in a gritty, intense matchup against Edmonton. This was Guentzel's fourth straight game with a goal, and the 30-year-old has recorded points in nine of his last 12 outings, putting up eight goals and five assists in that stretch. He's enjoying a strong start to the season with 26 points (13 goals, 13 helpers) in 26 games.

  • Lightning's Brayden Point: Sets up goal in loss to Edmonton

Point recorded an assist in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Oilers.

Point couldn't repeat the back-to-back four-point performances he delivered in the wins over San Jose and Vancouver on Dec. 5 and Dec. 8, respectively. However, the 28-year-old playmaker extended his solid run of play by cracking the scoresheet for the eighth time across his last 10 games, with 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) in that span. Point has 30 points in only 22 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Tommy Novak C | PIT

Predators' Thomas Novak: Ends goal drought Tuesday

Novak scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Flames.

Novak recorded a point for the first time since Oct. 25, and it was also his first goal since Oct. 22, when he contributed with a tally in the 4-0 win over the Bruins. Novak enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign with three goals in his first six games, but he's gone ice-cold since then. The 27-year-old should continue to find opportunities to produce as long as he remains a member of the second power-play unit, but the team's overall struggles certainly limit his upside considerably.

  • Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Scores twice Tuesday

Marchessault scored two goals in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Flames.

Marchessault recorded his first multi-goal effort of the season, and it was also the fourth time he recorded two or more points in a single game. Unfortunately for the 33-year-old, this performance wasn't enough to stop Nashville's losing streak, which now sits at eight games. Marchessault has been one of the few reliable fantasy options on the Predators' roster, and he has 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) across 29 appearances. The efficiency has been lacking, however, and his 7.9 shooting percentage represents a career-low mark for the winger.
