  • Avalanche's Gavin Brindley: Thrives on second line

Brindley scored a goal on two shots, added an assist and doled out two hits in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Sabres.

Brindley is getting the first opportunity to fill in for Valeri Nichushkin (lower body) on the second line. It's still early, but the initial effort was promising, as Brindley helped out on a Brock Nelson tally in the first period before scoring one of his own -- the eventual game-winner -- in the second. Brindley has five points over his last four games and has earned his move into the top six through hard work. For the season, the 21-year-old is at four goals, seven points, 20 shots on net, 16 hits and a plus-3 rating over 16 appearances.

  • Martin Necas C | COL

Avalanche's Martin Necas: Erupts for four points

Necas scored twice, added two assists, logged two hits and went plus-4 in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Sabres.

Necas set the tone with a goal 52 seconds into the game. He also assisted on Artturi Lehkonen's first-period tally and added another goal and helper in the third to help the Avalanche solidify their lead. Necas has gotten on the scoresheet in seven of the last eight games, totaling six goals and six helpers in that span. For the season, the 26-year-old winger is up to 12 goals, 24 points, 39 shots on net, 21 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-15 rating over 18 appearances. After last year's blockbuster trade to Colorado, Necas put up 28 points in 30 regular-season contests for the Avalanche, but he's found another level in 2025-26.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Trio of assists in win

Lundell had three assists in a 6-3 win over the Capitals on Thursday.

It was Lundell's first multi-point game since Oct. 11 when he picked up two points. He is quietly delivering a career season with 14 points, including 10 helpers, in 17 games. That's a 67-point season for Barkov-lite.

  • Flames' Blake Coleman: Steals, scores in win

Coleman scored a goal on three shots, added two hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Sharks.

Coleman was able to generate a turnover and buried his chance immediately after for the opening goal at 5:46 of the second period. The 33-year-old forward has just two goals and no assists over his last nine games, cooling off from his more positive start to the campaign. Overall, he has produced seven goals, one helper, 46 shots on net, 37 hits, 13 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-2 rating through 19 appearances. Coleman should continue to be an effective two-way forward in a middle-six role.

  • Panthers' Eetu Luostarinen: 10 points in last 10 games

Luostarinen had a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win over the Capitals on Thursday.

The goal was an empty netter, but it still counts the same as any other goal. Luostarinen went seven games without a point to start the season, but he has more than made up for that with 10 points, including seven assists, in his last 10 games.

  • Sam Reinhart C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Four goals in last four games

Reinhart had two goals and an assist in Thursday's 6-3 win over Washington.

Reinhart has scored four goals (five points) and put up 12 shots in his past four games. It took some time for the veteran scorer to get warmed up this season, but he now has 10 goals and two assists on 50 shots in 17 games. Reinhart is in a 12-player tie for sixth in goals in the NHL.

  • Kings' Quinton Byfield: Second straight game winner

Byfield scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Thursday's 4-3 win over Toronto. He also added an assist.

Byfield one-timed a pass from Drew Doughty at the right dot to deliver the win. He has scored the winner in two consecutive games and has four points (two goals, two assists) in that span. Byfield is taking that next big step in his game this season. He has four goals, 12 assists and 44 shots in 18 games.

  • Bobby McMann C | SEA

Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Five points in last six games

McMann scored a goal Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Kings.

McMann stole back the puck after he had turned it over to Adrian Kempe in the defensive zone, and he took off on a breakaway. His shot caught a piece of Darcy Kuemper's right pad before it trickled over the goal line to put the Leafs up 1-0 at 8:06 of the first frame. McMann has a goal in each of his last two games, and he has five points, including three goals in his last six contests. It's a nice bump for the winger, who had just three points in his first 12 contests.

  • John Tavares C | TOR

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Five goals in last five games

Tavares scored twice Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Kings.

Both goals were Tavares' bread and butter -- net-front snipes. The first was a tap-in between Darcy Kuemper's pads; the second was a backhand past the netminder's outstretched left pad and off the post. Tavares has five goals (seven points) in his last five games and 11 goals, 12 shots and 53 shots in 18 games this season. At this rate, he's on pace for his first triple-digit season at age 35.

  • Alex Newhook C | MON

Canadiens' Alex Newhook: Sustains apparent lower-body injury

Newhook sustained a lower-body injury and won't return to Thursday's game versus the Stars.

The Canadiens didn't provide any additional details, but Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports Newhook's right leg bent awkwardly on the play that led to his exit from the game. Given the nature of the injury, this may be a case of how long he's out rather than hoping he's just day-to-day. He'll be evaluated further ahead of Saturday's game versus the Bruins.
