  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Nets shorthanded goal

Guentzel scored a shorthanded goal on five shots in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Rangers.

Guentzel has topped 21 minutes of ice time in three straight games, logging two goals and two helpers in that span. The 31-year-old winger will be leaned on heavily for offense while the Lightning are missing a handful of regulars due to injuries. Guentzel is up to seven goals, 16 points (four on the power play, one shorthanded), 46 shots on net and a minus-1 rating across 16 outings this season.

  • J.T. Miller C | NYR

Rangers' J.T. Miller: Scores early in win

Miller scored a goal on two shots and added four hits in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Lightning.

Miller ended a four-game slide with the tally, though the Rangers were shut out twice in that span. The 32-year-old forward has been listed as a winger since Vincent Trocheck returned from an upper-body injury. Miller and Mika Zibanejad appear to be sharing the center duties on the top line, so expect slightly lower faceoff counts for both until the lineup gets shuffled. Miller is up to four goals, nine points, 46 shots on net, 48 hits and a minus-2 rating over 18 appearances.

  • Ryan Strome C | CGY

Ducks' Ryan Strome: Set for season debut

Strome (upper body) will be in the lineup against the Red Wings on Thursday, Alyson Lozoff on TNT reports.

Strome will be making his season debut for the Ducks after missing the first 16 games due to his upper-body injury. While the veteran center has been a lock for the 40-point threshold in recent years -- he's achieved that mark in six straight campaigns -- missing nearly a quarter of the season could see him dip below 40 points for the first time since 2018-19, when he was limited to just 63 regular-season games.

  • Rory Kerins C | CGY

Flames' Rory Kerins: Recalled from AHL

Kerins was called up from AHL Calgary on Thursday.

The Flames are down to 12 healthy forwards, necessitating the recall of Kerins. The 25-year-old spent the full season in 2024-25 with the Flames, tallying four goals and 21 assists in 81 regular-season appearances. Kerins had five goals and 14 points in 13 AHL games before his recall.

  • Kent Johnson C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Kent Johnson: Back in action Thursday

Johnson will return to the lineup Thursday after being a healthy scratch Tuesday in Seattle, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

It was thought that Johnson missed Tuesday's game with an illness, but head coach Dean Evason said that was not the case. Johnson will replace Boone Jenner (upper body) in the lineup. Johnson is off to a mediocre start with two goals, three assists and a minus-eight rating in 15 appearances.

  • Boone Jenner C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Boone Jenner: Facing extended absence

Jenner (upper body) is set for a stint on the sidelines after head coach Dean Evason told reporters Thursday, "It's not short term," Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Jenner has been off to a decent start to the 2025-26 campaign, registering three goals and seven helpers in 16 outings, including a pair of power-play points. With the 32-year-old forward on the shelf, Luca Del Bel Belluz will get a shot at a first-line role versus Edmonton on Thursday, but he will have his work cut out for him to maintain that spot in the lineup.

  • Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Out a couple of games

Matthews (lower body) will miss a pair of games, but his injury is not considered serious, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports Thursday.

Matthews left Tuesday's tilt against Boston after a big hit, courtesy of the Bruins' Nikita Zadorov. Matthews will sit out Thursday against the Kings and Saturday in Chicago. Matthews has nine goals and 14 points in 17 games this season. John Tavares will move up the depth chart and center the top unit in Matthews' absence.

  • Oilers' Jack Roslovic: OT winner in second straight game

Roslovic scored the overtime winner in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Flyers.

Cam York couldn't corral a fluttering puck at center ice early in the extra frame, leading to a two-on-none break by the Oilers that Roslovic converted. It was the second straight game in which the 28-year-old has scored in OT, and after a sluggish start to his Edmonton tenure, Roslovic has broken out for five goals and 10 points in the last nine games.

  • Oilers' Matthew Savoie: Two helpers against Philly

Savoie picked up two assists in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Flyers.

After helping to set up an Evan Bouchard tally in the final minute of the first period, Savoie worked a two-on-none break with Jack Roslovic in OT that produced the game-winner. It was Savoie's first multi-point performance of the season, and so far his spot on an even-strength line with Connor McDavid hasn't resulted in much offense for the 21-year-old -- Wednesday's effort snapped a five-game point drought, and Savoie has just one goal and four points in 18 contests to begin his first full NHL campaign.

  • Maple Leafs' Scott Laughton: Moved to injured reserve

Laughton (upper body) was designated for injured reserve Thursday.

Laughton's placement on IR is retroactive to Nov. 8, which means he will still need to be sidelined for the Leafs' next two contests. Even when healthy, the 31-year-old center is far from a lock for a lineup spot and could still occasionally find himself sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch.
