Islanders' Mathew Barzal: Four-game, six-point streak
Barzal had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Red Wiings.

Dylan Larkin C | DET
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Eight-game point streak
Larkin scored a goal Thursday in a 7-2 loss to the Islanders.
Larkin extended his season-opening point streak to eight games (six goals, seven assists). The goal came on the power play when he knocked in his own rebound after his original backhand trickled behind David Rittich.

Oliver Kapanen C | MON
Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Generates two helpers
Kapanen notched two assists in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Oilers.
This was Kapanen's first two-point effort of the season, and they were his first helpers. The 22-year-old has added four goals through nine contests, providing surprisingly effective depth scoring from a third-line role. Kapanen has added 12 shots on net, eight hits, six blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. His current scoring pace won't last, but the center is establishing himself as a quality two-way forward in what's likely to be his first full NHL campaign.

Alex Newhook C | MON
Canadiens' Alex Newhook: Tallies twice Thursday
Newhook scored two goals on three shots and added two hits in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Oilers.
Newhook is heating up with two goals and three assists over his last three outings. The 24-year-old has held down a middle-six role to begin 2025-26, though this was just the second time in nine games he's recorded multiple shots on net. He's up to three goals, four helpers, 11 shots, 12 hits and a plus-5 rating. Newhook's offense may not be sustainable, as he's not a regular part of the power-play mix.

Sam Reinhart C | FLA
Panthers' Sam Reinhart: First point in five games
Reinhart scored a power-play goal Thursday in a 5-3 loss to the Penguins .
Reinhart wired a wrist shot from low in the left circle that went in off Tristan Jarry's blocker. It was Reinhart's first point in five games. Some fantasy managers may have gotten stressed about Reinhart's slow start, but he should still be fine in the long run.

Connor McDavid C | EDM
Oilers' Connor McDavid: Distributes three assists
McDavid logged three assists, including two on the power play, and added three shots on goal in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
McDavid was right at the heart of the Oilers' third-period comeback, setting up goals by Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The 28-year-old McDavid has multiple helpers in three of eight games to begin the year. He's produced one goal, 10 assists, 25 shots on net and a minus-2 rating. He's too talented to shoot 4.0 percent for a long stretch, so expect his luck to turn around soon.

Adam Henrique C | EDM
Oilers' Adam Henrique: Deposits goal in win
Henrique scored a goal on four shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
Henrique gave the Oilers their first lead of the game, a 2-1 advantage midway through the second period. The 35-year-old has done a decent job from a fourth-line spot this season, posting two goals, one assist, 12 shots on net, 12 blocks, six hits and an even plus-minus rating through eight appearances. Barring injuries, Henrique is unlikely to get above the third line, so he won't carry significant fantasy value in most formats.

Leon Draisaitl C | EDM
Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Sparks comeback
Draisaitl scored a power-play goal on four shots and won 15 of 18 faceoffs in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
Draisaitl answered four consecutive Canadiens goals with his tally at 11:19 of the third period, which sparked the Oilers' comeback effort. The 29-year-old has scored five times and added two assists over eight games this season, with four of his seven points coming on the power play. He's contributed 20 shots on net, four hits and a minus-1 rating while seeing plenty of ice time in all situations. It won't be long before Draisaitl is operating well above a point-per-game pace.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins C | EDM
Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Contributes in comeback effort
Nugent-Hopkins scored a goal and dished an assist, both on the power play, in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
Nugent-Hopkins' goal at 12:17 of the third period tied the game at 5-5, and it came just under a minute after he helped out on a Leon Draisaitl marker. This was Nugent-Hopkins' third multi-point effort in eight contests. He's up to five goals, four assists, five power-play points, 15 shots on net and a minus-3 rating. He remains a key part of the Oilers' lineup in all situations, and he should continue to be especially productive with the man advantage.

Evgeni Malkin C | PIT
Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Five-game, seven-point streak
Malkin delivered two assists Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Panthers.
The points stretched Malkin's scoring streak to five games and seven points (two goals, five assists). Malkin's output dropped to 50 points (68 games) last season, but the 39-year-old looks rejuvenated this year, and he already has 12 points, including 10 helpers, in eight contests.
