  • Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Out roughly one week

Janmark will miss around one week of action according to head coach Kris Knoblauch, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Friday.

If so, Janmark will miss Opening Night versus Calgary on Oct. 8. The 32-year-old veteran had two goals and 16 assists while averaging 13:18 of ice time across 80 regular-season games with the Oilers in 2024-25. He should see bottom-six minutes in 2025-26.

  • Sharks' Shane Bowers: Elevated from minors

Bowers was recalled from AHL San Jose on Friday.

With the Sharks ending the preseason with a back-to-back against Vegas and Utah on Friday and Saturday, respectively, the team decided to bolster its roster by bringing up three players, including Bowers. For his part, the 26-year-old center has appeared in just 13 regular-season NHL games for the Avs and Devils, recording zero points, 10 shots and 12 hits. Once the preseason action wraps up, look for Bowers to head back down to the minors.

  • J.T. Miller C | NYR

Rangers' J.T. Miller: Working in non-contact sweater

Miller (lower body) was practicing in a non-contact jersey Friday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports.

Considering Miller still hasn't been cleared for full contact, fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting him to suit up in the preseason finale versus Boston on Saturday. Instead, the Rangers' captain will be hoping to be cleared in time for Opening Night against the Penguins on Tuesday. Once given the all-clear, Miller figures to retake his first-line role in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit.

  • Maple Leafs' Scott Laughton: Out with lower-body issue

Laughton is considered week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury, the Leafs announced Friday.

At this point, Laughton shouldn't be expected to be ready for Opening Night against the Canadiens on Wednesday, and he could be sidelined even longer. Easton Cowan looked likely to make the season-opening roster even without Laughton getting hurt but should now be a near-lock. David Kampf could see the biggest uptick in ice time with Laughton out, though it figures to still be a bottom-six role.

  • Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Set to miss 1-2 weeks

The Islanders announced Friday that Ritchie (lower body) is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.

Ritchie exited Thursday's preseason game against the Flyers due to his lower-body injury, and he'll miss some time ahead of the regular season. He made just seven regular-season appearances in the NHL last year and was on the roster bubble ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. His injury could impact his chances of opening the regular season with the Islanders, but if he winds up in the minors, he'll likely be among the first candidates to be called up this year.

  • Zack Bolduc C | MON

Canadiens' Zachary Bolduc: Not practicing Friday

Bolduc is not at practice Friday and is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

The 21-year-old Bolduc was acquired by Montreal from St. Louis on July 1 in exchange for Logan Mailloux. Bolduc had a solid rookie campaign in 2024-25, scoring 19 goals and adding 17 assists across 72 regular-season appearances. The 17th selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Bolduc is slated to start the season on the second line, alongside Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine, once he returns to full health.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Getting checked for UBI

Lundell (upper body) will be evaluated Friday after sustaining an injury in Thursday's preseason game versus the Lightning, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

The Panthers can ill afford to lose Lundell for any length of time since Aleksander Barkov (knee) will miss the regular season. Lundell was injured in a contentious game Thursday, and he'll need to be checked out. Don't be surprised if he sits out Saturday's preseason finale versus the Lightning.

  • Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Hurt in Thursday's game

Ritchie (lower body) didn't finish Thursday's game versus the Flyers and will undergo further evaluation when the Islanders return home.

Ritchie is right on the roster bubble after a strong preseason, but the injury looms large over his chances of making the roster. The 20-year-old center will have a week to heal up prior to next Thursday's Opening Night road game versus the Penguins.

  • Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Dealing with hand issue

Sillinger sustained an apparent hand injury at Thursday's practice, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Sillinger's injury is believed to be minor, but he was going for evaluation when head coach Dean Evason was talking to reporters. Expect the Blue Jackets to play it cautious with Sillinger, who is slated to fill a middle-six role this year. He may sit out Saturday's preseason finale versus the Capitals, and his status for Opening Night next Thursday against the Predators remains to be seen.

  • Ducks' Jansen Harkins: Officially on injured reserve

Harkins (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Harkins' move to IR is simply a formality, as he is expected to be out until late November at a minimum. Once healthy, he should be able to enter the mix for a fourth-line spot, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him get waived or end up as a healthy scratch.
