  • Mammoth's Ryan McGregor: Inks PTO with Utah

McGregor landed a professional tryout agreement with the Mammoth on Tuesday.

This will be McGregor's second PTO with Utah in as many years -- he was released in September of 2024 after failing to secure a roster spot. The 26-year-old has played five consecutive seasons with AHL Tucson, which is likely where he'll end up if he is unable to impress the Mammoth during training camp.

  • Bo Horvat C | NYI

Islanders' Bo Horvat: Ready for camp

Horvat (ankle) will be available for the start of training camp, per Andrew Gross of Newsday on Monday.

Horvat sustained an ankle injury in May while playing for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship. He told Rachel Luscher of the Islanders' official site in August that he felt great and ready for the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. The 30-year-old Horvat accounted for 28 goals, 57 points, 243 shots on net and 100 hits across 81 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He will likely occupy a top-line role and skate with the first power-play unit this year.

  • Kirby Dach C | MON

Canadiens' Kirby Dach: Targeting Opening Night return

Dach (knee) is on track to be ready to face the Maple Leafs on Oct. 8, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports Monday.

Dach has been skating with his teammates, but may not be able to get into the lineup for the Canadiens during the preseason. While that could mean the 24-year-old gets off to a slow start to the season if he has to shake off some rust, he should be capable of challenging for the 30-point threshold if he can stay healthy this year -- something that's been a significant challenge for Dach in his young career.

  • Canucks' Braeden Cootes: Likely good to go for training camp

Cootes (undisclosed) is expected to be ready for the start of Vancouver's training camp Thursday, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Sunday.

The Canucks relayed that Cootes was held out of Sunday's prospects game versus the Kraken for precautionary reasons, per Drance. The 2025 first-round selection (No. 15 overall) will compete for a roster spot with Vancouver during training camp, but he'll most likely continue to hone his craft with WHL Seattle in 2025-26.

  • Canucks' Braeden Cootes: Not playing Sunday

Cootes (undisclosed) will not play in Sunday's prospects game against the Kraken, according to Thomas Drance of The Athletic.

Cootes departed Saturday's contest versus Seattle due to an undisclosed injury. It's currently unclear if the 18-year-old will be ready for the start of Vancouver's training camp, which begins Thursday.

  • Canucks' Braeden Cootes: Sustains injury in rookie game

Cootes (undisclosed) will not return to Saturday's prospects game versus the Kraken.

The Canucks provided no additional details regarding the nature or severity of Cootes' injury. The 15th overall pick from 2025 will be day-to-day heading into the main training camp until a further update is available.

  • Sharks' Cameron Lund: Considered day-to-day

Lund (upper body) is day-to-day and won't play against the Kings on Saturday in the Golden State Rookie Faceoff, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Lund sustained the injury in Friday's 6-3 win over the Ducks after scoring two goals in the contest. He had two goals, one assist, 12 shots on net and seven hits in 11 NHL regular-season appearances with the Sharks in 2024-25. If he's healthy, he will compete for a spot on the Opening Night roster during training camp.

  • Sharks' Cameron Lund: Hurt in rookie game

Lund (upper body) did not return to Friday's prospects game versus the Ducks after taking a high hit in the third period, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Lund has a chance of making the Sharks' roster out of camp, but missing any time due to injury will complicate things for the 21-year-old forward. Depending on the severity of the injury, he could miss the remainder of the Sharks' prospects games and at least some of training camp next week.

  • Adam Lowry C | WPG

Jets' Adam Lowry: Looking at late October return

Lowry (hip) is hoping to return to game action in late October or early November, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports Thursday.

Lowry underwent hip surgery May 27 after the Jets were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. The recovery time was said to be 5-6 months, and Lowry is progressing well enough that he could return close to the five-month mark. Lowry had a career high in goals with 16 during the 2024-25 campaign, adding in 18 assists and 140 hits over 73 regular-season contests. Lowry should be a third-line center with the Jets upon his return.

  • Blue Jackets' Owen Sillinger: Should be ready early in 2025-26

Sillinger (knee) is projected to be ready early in the 2025-26 campaign, but he isn't expected to take contact during training camp, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic on Wednesday.

If Sillinger isn't taking contact, then that essentially rules him out for all of Columbus' seven preseason games. That limits his chances of making the Blue Jackets' Opening Night roster, but even if he starts the season in the minors, he might get a shot with the big club at some stage of the campaign. Sillinger had 11 goals and 29 points across 44 regular-season appearances with AHL Cleveland in 2024-25. The 27-year-old also played in his lone NHL game to date in Columbus' 6-2 win over Seattle on Jan. 9. He recorded two PIM, one hit and one block in 13:09 of ice time.
