  • John Tavares C | TOR

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Nets equalizer Wednesday

Tavares scored a goal on three shots and won 13 of 18 faceoffs in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Panthers.

Tavares saw a six-game point streak snapped Sunday in Anaheim, but he was back to scoring in his return to home ice. The 34-year-old has nine goals and five assists over his last eight appearances. For the season, the veteran center is at 36 goals, 70 points, 180 shots on net, 84 hits, 40 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating across 68 contests. Tavares is hot enough lately to take a run at the 40-goal mark by the end of the regular season.

  • David Kampf C | WAS

Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Won't finish contest

Kampf (upper body) won't return to Wednesday's game versus the Panthers.

Kampf was ruled out early in the third period, though it's not clear what caused his injury. He had one hit in 8:10 of ice time in the contest. If Kampf misses additional time, Nicholas Robertson would likely get back into the lineup.

  • Panthers' Aleksander Barkov: Sitting out Wednesday

Barkov (upper body) won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs.

Barkov was banged up in Tuesday's game against the Canadiens but was able to finish that contest. However, the Panthers look to be taking a cautious approach with the center since they'll likely be in the playoffs -- though Wednesday's game is important for seeding. Jonah Gadjovich is expected to enter the lineup while Anton Lundell figures to move into the top six to cover Barkov's absence.

  • Blues' Dalibor Dvorsky: Sent down by St. Louis

Dvorsky was assigned to AHL Springfield on Wednesday.

Dvorsky spent a week and a half with the Blues but made just one appearance, logging 10:40 of ice time while being held without a point. He should have more opportunities to contribute in the AHL late in the year, as he's recorded 20 goals, 23 assists and 20 PIM over 57 appearances with Springfield this season.

  • Nico Sturm C | MIN

Panthers' Nico Sturm: Won't play vs. Toronto

Sturm (upper body) will miss Wednesday's clash against Toronto, per Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site.

Sturm was injured during Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Montreal. He has seven goals, 14 points and 98 hits in 58 outings between San Jose and Florida this season. Tomas Nosek is expected to draw into the lineup.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Road trip return unlikely

McDavid (lower body), contrary to previous reports, is unlikely to suit up during the Oilers' three-game road trip, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports Wednesday.

Anything is possible for McDavid, who has returned from injuries ahead of schedule in the past. Still, with the Oilers' playoff spot relatively secure, there is no reason for the team to rush its world-class center back into the lineup until he is 100 percent. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins should see increased opportunities while McDavid remains on the shelf.

  • Oilers' Trent Frederic: Getting close to return

Frederic (lower body) is likely to miss two more games before potentially returning Monday in Anaheim, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports Wednesday.

Frederic hasn't been in the lineup since Feb. 25, and he's expected to be sidelined Thursday against San Jose and Saturday against the Kings. He has eight goals, 15 points, 44 PIM and 115 hits across 57 appearances in 2024-25. When he's ready to return, Frederic will likely serve in a bottom-six capacity.

  • Bruins' Marat Khusnutdinov: Snags helper Tuesday

Khusnutdinov notched an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.

Khusnutdinov snapped a six-game point drought with the helper. The 22-year-old is maintaining a middle-six role for now, but his overall play since joining the Bruins has been more of the same from what he displayed with the Wild -- a little depth scoring and little else. He's at 10 points, 36 shots on net, 49 hits, 45 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 68 appearances this season.

  • Bruins' Morgan Geekie: Dishes pair of helpers

Geekie recorded two assists in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.

Geekie set up both of David Pastrnak's goals in the game, including one on the power play. This was Geekie's third multi-point effort in his last seven games, a span in which he's earned five goals and four assists. The 26-year-old forward is up to 27 goals, 17 helpers, nine power-play points, 134 shots on net, 98 hits and a minus-4 rating over 70 contests.

  • Bruins' Vinni Lettieri: Nets goal in loss

Lettieri scored a goal on six shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.

Lettieri cleared waivers Monday and will likely spend most of the rest of the regular season with Boston. However, he is eligible to be assigned to AHL Providence at any time and will likely play for that team during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Lettieri has contributed three goals, one assist, 35 shots on net, 51 hits and a minus-7 rating across 20 NHL appearances this season.
