Veleno was acquired by Chicago from Detroit on Friday in exchange for Petr Mrazek and Craig Smith.

Craig Smith C | DET
Red Wings' Craig Smith: Swapped in three-player deal
Smith and netminder Petr Mrazek were traded to Detroit from Chicago on Friday in exchange for Joe Veleno.
Smith has put up decent numbers with the Hawks this season, tallying nine goals and seven helpers in 40 games. Gone are the days of the 35-year-old winger putting up 50-plus points a season, but he should still be capable of reaching the 20-point threshold for the second straight year while filling a bottom-six role.

Colton Dach C | EDM
Blackhawks' Colton Dach: Dipping toe in minors
Dach will be moved to the minors Friday in a paper transaction that will make him eligible for the AHL playoffs, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Dach will be back up with the club before the team faces Utah on Friday but needs to be in the minors when the trade deadline passes. Since Chicago won't be making the NHL playoffs, the move will allow the youngster to get some extra minutes after the season with AHL Rockford. In his 18 games for the Hawks this year, the Alberta native has generated two goals, four assists and 59 hits while averaging 11:39 of ice time.

Seth Jarvis C | CAR
Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Tallies game-winner
Jarvis scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
The Hurricanes had one go-ahead goal wiped out for being offside, but Jarvis capitalized on a turnover to put them ahead for good with 19 seconds left in the third period. The 23-year-old snapped a three-game slump with the game-winner, his second such goal this season. Overall, he has 24 tallies, 23 assists, 144 shots on net, 79 hits and a plus-3 rating through 56 appearances while seeing time in all situations.

Logan Stankoven C | CAR
Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Traded to Carolina
Stankoven was acquired by Carolina, along with two first-round picks and a pair of third-round selections from Dallas for Mikko Rantanen, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports Friday.
Stankoven has been seeing fourth-line time with the Stars of late, but he should move up to a top-six role with the Hurricanes. Stankoven had nine goals, 20 assists and 148 shots on goal over 59 games with the Stars. The 22-year-old should also see plenty of power-play time with Carolina.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Picks up assist in loss
Motte notched an assist in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Utah.
Motte has played in six straight games, but this was his first point since Jan. 7 versus the Senators. The 29-year-old has been limited to five points over 35 contests this season while occasionally being a healthy scratch and also contending with injuries earlier in the campaign. He's added 40 shots on net, 45 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating in a fourth-line role.

Bruins' Marat Khusnutdinov: Called up from AHL

Khusnutdinov was sent to the minors by Minnesota on Saturday and then was dealt to the Bruins on Thursday as part of the Justin Brazeau trade. He will likely see fourth-line minutes for the remainder of the campaign, provided that he remains with the big club.

Clayton Keller RW | UTA
Hockey Club's Clayton Keller: Earns 300th career assist
Keller logged an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Red Wings.
This was the 300th helper of Keller's career, coming in his 581st game. The 26-year-old is also close to a couple more milestones, sitting 12 goals away from 200 and 12 points away from 500, with the latter being achievable in 2024-25 given his lofty scoring pace this season. The 26-year-old has 22 goals, 48 helpers, 165 shots on net and a minus-6 rating across 61 appearances while serving on Utah's top line.
-
Jack McBain C | UTA
Hockey Club's Jack McBain: Notches assist in win
McBain provided an assist, two shots on goal and five hits in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Red Wings.
McBain had gone five games without a point, and he's gotten on the scoresheet in just two of 25 contests since the start of January (three points). Despite the downturn in offense, he hasn't been scratched, and he's even worked his way back onto the second power-play unit. The 25-year-old has a modest 18 points and 66 shots on net through 62 outings, but he is a physical force with 214 hits and 61 PIM to his name this season.

Kevin Stenlund C | UTA
Hockey Club's Kevin Stenlund: Puts away goal in win
Stenlund scored a goal on two shots, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Red Wings.
Stenlund's third-period tally was the game-winner. It was his first goal since Jan. 2 versus the Flames -- over the 23 contests between goals, he had just three assists. The 28-year-old is still centering the fourth line, and he's matched his career high of 15 points from 81 games last season in just 62 appearances this year. Stenlund has added 75 shots on net, 46 blocked shots, 41 hits and a minus-14 rating while averaging a career-high 14:17 of ice time.
