  • Joel Hanley D | CGY

Flames' Joel Hanley: Set to play Monday

Hanley (illness) is expected to be back in the lineup versus the Capitals on Monday, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Hanley will be back in action after missing just one game due to his illness. The defenseman has yet to score a goal in 58 games this season and has managed just one helper in his previous 22 outings. Given his lack of offensive upside, fantasy managers will want to pursue alternative fantasy options on the blue line.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Two helpers in OT win

Karlsson pocketed two assists, including one on the power play, in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Bruins.

The veteran blueliner had a hand in tallies by Yegor Chinakhov in the second period and Anthony Mantha in the third, the latter of which forced OT. Karlsson has been building momentum since the Olympic break with two goals, seven points and 20 shots on net over his last six games.

  • Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Elevated from minors

Gilbert was recalled from AHL Belleville on Monday.

Gilbert's promotion to the NHL roster doesn't bode well for the availability of Jake Sanderson (upper body) for Monday's game versus Vancouver, especially with Nikolas Matinpalo (undisclosed) recovering from an injury of his own. If Gilbert suits up Monday, it would be just his second NHL game of the year -- he logged 13:50 of ice time against the Rangers on Dec. 4.

  • Bruins' Jonathan Aspirot: Two helpers in Pittsburgh

Aspirot notched two assists in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Penguins.

The assists came in the second and third periods as Aspirot helped Pavel Zacha complete his second career hat trick. The 26-year-old blueliner has yet to score a goal in 2026, going 21 games without finding the back of the net, but he's been productive on an even-strength pairing with Charlie McAvoy. Over his last nine games, Aspirot has seven assists, 12 blocked shots, 10 hits, six PIM, five shots on net and a plus-3 rating.

  • Bruins' Frederic Brunet: Inks two-year extension

Brunet signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract extension with Boston on Monday.

It's a two-way contract for the 2026-27 season before becoming a one-way agreement for the 2027-28 season. Brunet has produced 11 goals and 28 points in 55 appearances for AHL Providence this campaign. He made his NHL debut with Boston in 2024-25, posting five blocked shots in 14:23 of ice time against New Jersey on April 15, 2025.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Posts three points in win

Seider scored a goal, supplied two assists and fired five shots on net in Sunday's 3-0 win over New Jersey.

Seider netted Detroit's first goal of the contest in the opening period before he later recorded a helper in each of the final two frames. Sunday's effort was his second three-point outing of the campaign and brought him up to eight goals, 36 assists, 137 shots on net, 103 hits and 142 blocked shots over 64 games this season. With the Red Wings trending towards ending their playoff drought, Seider should continue to operate at the heart of the team and post elite category-coverage stats for fantasy purposes.

  • Penguins' Jack St. Ivany: Goes on assignment

St. Ivany (hand) was sent down to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning loan Monday.

St. Ivany has been working with the team at practice of late, so his stint in the minors shouldn't come as a surprise. In 17 games this year, the 26-year-old blueliner has generated seven assists, 40 hits and 23 blocked shots while averaging 15:39 of ice time.

  • Golden Knights' Noah Hanifin: Lights lamp in loss

Hanifin scored a goal on two shots and blocked four shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers.

Hanifin has a goal and an assist over his last three games. He previously went 11 contests without a point and missed one game to recover from the travel coming home from the Olympics. The 29-year-old defenseman is up to three goals, 22 points, 108 shots on net, 92 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 53 appearances this season. He continues to fill a top-four role but isn't in the power-play mix, which will limit his offense.

  • Justin Holl D | STL

Blues' Justin Holl: Earns helper in team debut

Holl had an assist and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Ducks.

Holl was acquired from the Red Wings in the Justin Faulk trade Friday. The 34-year-old Holl was with AHL Grand Rapids prior to the trade, but the Blues need him in the NHL currently while Colton Parayko (back) is out of the lineup. Holl hadn't seen NHL ice since 2024-25, when he posted just eight points in 73 contests for the Red Wings. He has minimal offensive upside, and his physical play took a severe downturn last year, so the blueliner is unlikely to be a factor in fantasy.

  • John Carlson D | ANA

Ducks' John Carlson: Set to travel on road trip

Carlson (lower body) isn't expected to make his debut with the Ducks until the end of the team's road trip, which begins Tuesday, according to Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune on Sunday.

The Ducks' road trip starts Tuesday in Winnipeg and concludes next Sunday in Montreal, so Carlson isn't too far off from making his debut with his new club. Considering that game in Montreal is the second half of a back-to-back set, it seems less likely Carlson will draw into the lineup Saturday in Ottawa, especially since he has been contending with a lower-body injury.
