  • Senators' Jake Sanderson: One of each in win

Sanderson scored a goal, added an assist and blocked five shots in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Rangers.

Sanderson saw a seven-game point streak snapped Tuesday versus the Canucks, but he made up for it Wednesday. The defenseman was one of seven Senators to earn multiple points in this blowout win, and it was his first such performance since Dec. 15 in Winnipeg. Sanderson is up to nine goals, 35 points, 98 shots on net, 92 blocks and a plus-5 rating through 46 appearances. He is on pace to top the 60-point mark for the first time in his career.

  • Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Sitting out Wednesday

Ristolainen (upper body) will not play Wednesday versus the Sabres.

Ristolainen is considered day-to-day but will be out for the first half of a back-to-back. The 31-year-old defenseman should be considered questionable at best for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh. Noah Juulsen will stay in the lineup with Ristolainen's absence, while Jamie Drysdale (upper body) will check into a top-four role.

  • David Spacek D | MIN

    Wild's David Spacek: Recalled Wednesday

Spacek was called up from AHL Iowa on Wednesday.

The Wild may have an injury concern on their blue line, or they may just be adding Spacek to the roster ahead of a three-game road trip that begins Saturday in Buffalo. In any case, Spacek is with the big club. He has 19 points in 35 AHL contests.

  • Neal Pionk D | WPG

Jets' Neal Pionk: Placed on injured reserve

Pionk (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, retroactive to Jan. 13.

Winnipeg recalled Elias Salomonsson from AHL Manitoba in a corresponding move. Pionk is week-to-week after aggravating a lower-body issue in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Islanders. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return to game action before the Olympic break in February. Pionk has two goals, six assists, 76 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and 84 hits in 40 appearances this season.

  • Jets' Elias Salomonsson: Called up from AHL

Salomonsson was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Wednesday, per Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.

After Neal Pionk (lower body), Haydn Fleury (upper body) and Colin Miller (lower body) were all deemed week-to-week, Salomonsson will join the big club to fill the defensive void in Winnipeg's lineup. Through 25 games with Manitoba this season, the 21-year-old Salomonsson has a goal, seven assists and 37 shots on net. The call-up gives him another chance to record the first NHL point of his career after failing to do so across four games earlier this campaign.

  • Colin Miller D | WPG

    Jets' Colin Miller: Is week-to-week

Miller (lower body) is considered week-to-week, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports Wednesday.

Miller has an assist in 15 appearances in 2025-26. He was placed on injured reserve Monday because of the injury. Isaak Phillips was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Monday in a move that corresponded with Miller going on IR.

  • Neal Pionk D | WPG

    Jets' Neal Pionk: Deemed week-to-week

Pionk (lower body) is week-to-week, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports Wednesday.

Pionk aggravated the lower-body injury he sustained against Edmonton on Jan. 8 after he fell in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Islanders. The blueliner hasn't scored a goal since Dec. 15 versus the Senators. During his slump, Pionk managed just two assists and could be in danger of missing the 30-point threshold for the first time since the 2018-19 regular season, especially if he misses significant time due to injury.

  • Haydn Fleury D | WPG

    Jets' Haydn Fleury: Considered week-to-week

Head coach Scott Arniel said Wednesday that Fleury (upper body) is considered week-to-week, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.

Fleury has spent the past week on injured reserve, and he doesn't appear to be particularly close to returning to game action. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher during last week's game against the Golden Knights and subsequently hospitalized, but he was released from the hospital and returned to team meetings a day later. It's not yet clear whether Fleury will be in the mix to suit up for games before the Olympic break in February.

  • Capitals' Declan Chisholm: Struggling for playing time

Chisholm has sat out 14 of the Capitals' 21 games since the start of December after being scratched Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win over the Canadiens.

Chisholm and Dylan McIlrath have rotated into the lineup infrequently, but they're still far more often left in the press box. Chisholm has earned three assists, 15 shots on net, 15 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 17 outings this season. The 26-year-old would likely get a longer look if one of the Capitals' left-shot blueliners sustains a long-term injury.

  • Capitals' Dylan McIlrath: Fights in 100th career game

McIlrath had five PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Canadiens.

McIlrath skated in his 100th NHL contest, and he celebrated the occasion with a second-period bout against Arber Xhekaj. McIlrath has played in four of the Capitals' last eight games, which is actually an increase in usage for him as the team has had to navigate some short-term absences. He's still looking for his first point of the season while adding two shots on net, 10 PIM, 15 hits and five blocked shots over eight outings.
