  • Canucks' Marcus Pettersson: Slides assist in loss

Pettersson recorded an assist, three shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils.

The helper ended an eight-game slump for Pettersson. He was limited to 17:34 of ice time Friday, his lowest mark since Dec. 11 versus the Sabres, which was the last game before the Quinn Hughes trade. Pettersson has 10 points, 44 shots on net, 54 PIM, 43 hits, 83 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 51 appearances. He's in the first year of a six-year contract with a $5.5 million cap hit, but the 29-year-old probably won't fit the Canucks' competitive timeline since the team looks to be entering a full rebuild. He could be attractive to contending teams looking for a top-four blueliner with term, and just about any move would improve his fantasy outlook.

  • Zeev Buium D | VAN

Canucks' Zeev Buium: Finds twine in loss

Buium scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils.

Buium netted a goal for the first time since his Canucks debut, which was also against the Devils. He's now at six points in 19 outings for Vancouver. He's produced 20 points (12 on the power play), 48 shots on net, 30 blocked shots and a minus-15 rating through 50 appearances when accounting for his time with the Wild to begin the campaign.

  • Penguins' Harrison Brunicke: Posts three points in WHL win

Brunicke scored twice and added an assist in WHL Kamloops' 7-2 win over Wenatchee on Friday.

Since rejoining Kamloops after the World Junior Championship, Brunicke has six points over three contests. The Penguins prospect had one goal in nine NHL games this season, but Pittsburgh opted not to burn the first year of his entry-level contract. He'll close out 2025-26 in the WHL, but he might grab an NHL job in 2026-27.

  • Capitals' Jakob Chychrun: Questionable for Saturday

Chychrun is dealing with a bit of whiplash after a hit late in the third period of Friday's game versus the Flames, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

Chychrun will be checked on Saturday ahead of the Capitals' game in Edmonton. The 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day at this time, and if he can't suit up, Declan Chisholm or Dylan McIlrath will take his place.

  • Stars' Ilya Lyubushkin: Sustains lower-body injury

Lyubushkin (lower body) won't return to Friday's game versus the Blues, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.

Lyubushkin was injured during the second period and didn't come out for the third. The 31-year-old defenseman can be considered day-to-day until more information is available. The Stars' next game is a rematch with the Blues in St. Louis on Tuesday, and Alex Petrovic would draw in if Lyubushkin can't play.

  • Maple Leafs' Brandon Carlo: Slated to play Friday

Carlo (undisclosed) is expected to be in the lineup Friday versus the Golden Knights, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.

Carlo appears to have avoided an injury after there was some concern he tweaked something as recently as Wednesday. The 29-year-old defenseman should be good for his usual top-four minutes in this contest.

  • Matt Benning D | TOR

Maple Leafs' Matt Benning: Sent to minors

Benning was assigned to AHL Toronto on Friday.

Benning was called up by the Maple Leafs on Dec. 30, but he appeared in just one game during his time with the NHL club. He should have more consistent opportunities to see playing time with the Marlies.

  • Jacob Bryson D | WPG

Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Moved to IR

Bryson (upper body) was designated for injured reserve Friday, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Bryson finds himself facing a second long-term stint on the sidelines after he missed nine games earlier in the year while in the concussion protocol. Considering the blueliner has just two points in his last 22 outings and has periodically served as a healthy scratch, few fantasy managers are likely to be impacted by his absence. With the available roster spot, the Sabres called up Zac Jones from the minors.

  • Zac Jones D | BUF

Sabres' Zac Jones: Rejoins NHL club

Jones was recalled from AHL Rochester on Friday, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Jones spent just over a week in the minors, but he'll rejoin Buffalo after Jacob Bryson (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Friday. Jones hasn't yet appeared in a game for the NHL club this year, but he leads Rochester in points, with six goals and 31 assists across 32 games.

  • Golden Knights' Kaedan Korczak: Pockets assist Thursday

Korczak notched an assist, three shots on goal and three hits in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Bruins.

Korczak has racked up six helpers over 16 games since he last scored a goal. He's mostly seen top-four minutes lately, but with Shea Theodore now healthy and Rasmus Andersson set to make his Vegas debut Friday versus Toronto, Korczak could slip into a less prominent role. He's done well to post a career-high 12 points with 47 shots on net, 76 hits, 71 blocked shots, 16 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 49 appearances so far, but the impending drop in ice time makes him too risky for standard fantasy formats.
