Egor Zamula D | CLB
Egor Zamula: Lands on unconditional waivers
Zamula was placed on unconditional waivers Monday for the purpose of terminating his contract, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
Pittsburgh acquired Zamula from Philadelphia on Wednesday in exchange for Philip Tomasino. However, Zamula didn't report to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after the trade, which resulted in a suspension by the team. Assuming he goes unclaimed, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Alexandre Carrier D | MON
Canadiens' Alexandre Carrier: Plucks apple Sunday
Carrier logged an assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.
Carrier helped out on Brendan Gallagher's tally in the first period. The 29-year-old Carrier has seen big minutes as a shutdown defenseman in Montreal's top four, but he was limited to one helper over 15 outings in December. For the season, he's at 10 points, 29 shots on net, 20 hits, 87 blocked shots, 16 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 42 appearances.

David Jiricek D | PHI
Wild's David Jiricek: Elevated from minors
Jiricek was recalled from AHL Iowa on Monday.
Jiricek's promotion to the NHL roster is a good indication that there is an injury on the blue line ahead of Monday's matchup with the Kings. Even with the defenseman's call-up, he may find himself watching from the press box as a healthy scratch. In the minors this year, Jiricek has notched one goal and two assists in 13 outings, so he probably shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of offensive upside.

Michael Kesselring D | BUF
Sabres' Michael Kesselring: Set to miss more time
Kesselring (lower body) could resume skating by the end of the week, according to Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News on Monday.
Kesselring missed Saturday's 5-1 loss to Columbus, and it doesn't appear as though his return to the lineup is imminent. He hasn't earned a point in 16 appearances this season while posting 23 shots on goal, 22 blocked shots and 14 hits. Jacob Bryson will probably remain in the lineup during Kesselring's absence.

John Klingberg D | SJ
Sharks' John Klingberg: Moves to IR
Klingberg (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
The Sharks recalled Patrick Giles from AHL San Jose in a corresponding move. Klingberg sat out Saturday's 7-3 loss to Tampa Bay and won't play in at least the team's next four contests, starting with Tuesday's matchup against Columbus. However, it's unclear when he will be available to return. He has racked up nine goals, 16 points, 48 shots on net, 41 blocked shots and 23 hits across 31 appearances this season.
-
Jake McCabe D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Jake McCabe: Set for one-week absence
McCabe (lower body) is expected to miss at least one week, per David Alter of The Hockey News on Monday.
McCabe sustained the injury in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders. He has collected three goals, 16 points, 28 shots on net, 104 blocked shots and 58 hits in 41 outings this season. If Brandon Carlo (foot) isn't ready to return against Florida on Tuesday, Marshall Rifai or Philippe Myers could replace McCabe in the lineup.
-
Matthew Schaefer D | NYI
Islanders' Matthew Schaefer: Game-time call Tuesday
Schaefer (illness) will be a game-time decision against New Jersey on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Schaefer didn't participate in Monday's practice. He has amassed 12 goals, 28 points, 113 shots on net and 58 blocked shots in 42 games this season. If Schaefer is unavailable to play against the Devils, Adam Boqvist will likely draw into Tuesday's lineup.
-
Seth Jones D | FLA
Panthers' Seth Jones: Deemed week-to-week
Jones (upper body) is week-to-week, per George Richards of Florida Hockey Now on Monday.
The Panthers hope Jones will return before the Olympic break, but an exact timeline for his recovery remains unclear. Jones sat out Sunday's 2-1 win over Colorado after getting injured in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers at the Winter Classic. He has accumulated six goals, 24 points, 78 shots on net, 47 blocked shots and 38 hits across 40 appearances this season. Due to Jones' absence, Uvis Balinskis moved into a top-four role in Sunday's contest, while Donovan Sebrango logged time on the third pairing.
-
Zach Werenski D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Records two points Sunday
Werenski scored a goal and added an assist in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Penguins.
Werenski has made the most of his chances since returning from his lower-body injury, posting four points (one goal, three assists) in his last two games. The star blueliner has racked up 44 points in 37 outings this season, with 15 goals and 29 assists, and he remains one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. He ranks second in points among defensemen, as he only trails Cale Makar (47) from the Avalanche.

Lane Hutson D | MON
Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Scores winning goal Sunday
Hutson scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.
The blueliner came through for the Canadiens in overtime, scoring the game-winning goal with a snap shot that went past Jake Oettinger for Hutson's career-best seventh goal of the campaign. It was also his second game-winner. Hutson has been on fire of late for the Canadiens, cracking the scoresheet in five of his last six games while earning four multi-point efforts and 10 total points (two goals, eight helpers) in that span.
