Devon Toews D | COL
Avalanche's Devon Toews: Unavailable Sunday
Toews (upper body) isn't expected to play against Florida on Sunday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.
Toews managed to return to Saturday's 5-3 win over Carolina after crashing into the end boards, but he will miss at least one game. He has produced one goal, 12 assists, 68 shots on net and 58 blocked shots across 40 appearances this season. With Toews unavailable, Ilya Solovyov will play against the Panthers on Sunday.

Trevor van Riemsdyk D | WAS
Capitals' Trevor van Riemsdyk: Records assist Saturday
Van Riemsdyk notched an assist in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.
Van Riemsdyk ended a nine-game point drought with the helper. He was also scratched three times in that span. The 34-year-old still gets a majority of the playing time in a third-pairing role, but he'll occasionally sit out to allow Declan Chisholm or Dylan McIlrath a chance to play. Van Riemsdyk is at six points, 18 shots on net, 43 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 32 appearances.

Colin Miller D | WPG
Jets' Colin Miller: Playing time trending up
Miller was in the lineup for the second game in a row in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Senators.
Miller has played in three of the Jets' last six games, as it appears he's in position to challenge Luke Schenn for a third-pairing role. With the Jets having lost nine straight contests, neither defenseman has much job security at this point. Miller is still looking for his first point of the campaign and has added just 14 shots on net with 23 hits, nine blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-9 rating over 13 appearances.

Seth Jones D | FLA
Panthers' Seth Jones: Not expected to play
Jones (upper body) isn't expected to play against Colorado on Sunday, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Jones is day-to-day and will miss at least one game after being injured in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers at the Winter Classic. He has collected six goals, 24 points, 78 shots on net, 47 blocked shots and 38 hits across 40 appearances this season. Jones will be replaced in Sunday's lineup against the Avalanche by Donovan Sebrango or Tobias Bjornfot.
-
Tobias Bjornfot D | FLA
Panthers' Tobias Bjornfot: Summoned from AHL
Bjornfot was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Sunday, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Bjornfot began the season in the NHL as the Panthers' extra defenseman but did not see the ice. With Seth Jones (upper body) expected to miss Sunday's game against the Avalanche, the 24-year-old Bjornfot has been recalled from the AHL to likely fill that same extra defenseman role for as long as Jones is sidelined. Bjornfot has one goal and six assists in 22 games with Charlotte.

Cam Fowler D | STL
Blues' Cam Fowler: Picks up helper in win
Fowler dished out an assist in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Canadiens.
Fowler drew the attention of multiple Montreal defenders before sliding a pass to Jonatan Berggren, who buried a one-time shot from the right wing for the Blues' opening goal. With the helper, Fowler now has 14 assists, 15 points, 58 shots on net and 38 blocks through 43 games this season. The 34-year-old blueliner is well off the necessary pace to replicate his 40-point season through 68 regular-season games a year ago. However, he dominated down the stretch with 33 points in as many games to end the 2024-25 regular season, showcasing he can get hot when the games matter most. Fowler's fantasy value is currently best suited for deep leagues, but he remains a name to keep an eye on.

Logan Stanley D | BUF
Jets' Logan Stanley: Hearing with Player Safety
Stanley has a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Sunday.
Stanley and Brady Tkachuk were involved in an altercation during the second period of Saturday's game that resulted in Stanley picking up a double-minor and Tkachuk receving a 10-minute misconduct penalty. In that scrum, the Jets defenseman punched Tkachuk, and that is likely the incident that could draw supplemental discipline from the league. A suspension could be on the way for the 27-year-old Stanley, who has seven goals and six assists in 40 games this year.

Thomas Chabot D | OTT
Senators' Thomas Chabot: Two goals vs. Winnipeg
Chabot scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Jets.
Chabot scored a goal for the first time since Oct. 25, and he continues to find ways to remain productive. Even though his stats won't jump off the page, the 28-year-old blueliner has cracked the scoresheet in four of Ottawa's last seven games, posting five points over that stretch (two goals and three assists). Chabot has been an effective all-around contributor when healthy, with 35 shots and 51 blocks to complement his 15 points in 25 appearances this season.
-
Adam Boqvist D | NYI
Islanders' Adam Boqvist: Not seeing much time
Boqvist was scratched for the 16th time in 18 games when he sat out Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Maple Leafs.
Boqvist had the first chance to replace Alexander Romanov (shoulder) in the lineup, but he didn't stick. Since Boqvist exited the lineup Nov. 28 versus the Flyers, the Islanders have rotated through call-ups for the last spot on the third pairing. Travis Mitchell went first, followed by Marshall Warren and now Cole McWard is getting a look. Boqvist remains on the NHL roster as an emergency option, but with just one helper in 12 contests this season, he has virtually no fantasy appeal unless he can claim a regular role.

Timothy Liljegren D | WAS
Sharks' Timothy Liljegren: Two helpers in return
Liljegren notched two assists and two blocked shots in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Lightning.
Liljegren returned from missing five games due to an upper-body injury. Any plans to ease him in ended when Shakir Mukhamadullin (undisclosed) left the contest early -- Liljegren ended up logging 21:39 of ice time. Liljegren's up to six helpers, 18 shots on net, 65 blocked shots, 26 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-10 rating over 29 appearances. The 26-year-old's defense still needs some work, but he could be in line for power-play usage as long as he can stay healthy, though that role could shrink once John Klingberg (lower body) gets back in action.
