Dakota Mermis D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Dakota Mermis: Re-ups with two-year deal
Mermis signed a two-year, $1.625 million contract with Toronto on Tuesday.
Mermis had one assist, six shots on goal, three hits and four blocked shots in four NHL regular-season appearances between Toronto and Utah in 2024-25. He also earned seven helpers in 32 regular-season outings for AHL Toronto last campaign. Mermis may occupy a depth spot on the Maple Leafs' roster going into the 2025-26 campaign.

John Klingberg D | SJ
Sharks' John Klingberg: Headed for West Coast
Klingberg agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million contract with San Jose on Tuesday.
Including the playoffs, Klingberg played in 30 games last year as he worked his way back from a long-term hip injury. In those outings, the veteran blueliner garnered just two goals and six assists to go with 45 blocks and 29 hits. At this point in his career, Klingberg might have to settle for a spot on the third pairing but should still be in the mix for power-play minutes.

Jaycob Megna D | LV
Golden Knights' Jaycob Megna: Signs two-year deal
Megna inked a two-year, $1.6 million contract with Vegas on Tuesday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Megna featured in just eight regular-season contests for the Panthers this past year in which he failed to register a point. The 32-year-old blueliner figures to be a depth piece for Vegas, which will probably result in him playing limited minutes or even spending time in the minors.

Simon Lundmark D | TB
Lightning's Simon Lundmark: Signs two-way contract
Lundmark agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
Lundmark spent the past four seasons playing for AHL Manitoba without ever reaching the 20-point threshold. Selected by the Jets in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft, the organization was likely hoping for more out of the blueliner, hence the decision not to give him a qualifying offer. With his new organization, Lundmark figures to be primarily a minor-league depth option and probably shouldn't be expected to see much, if any, NHL action this year.

Ronnie Attard D | COL
Avalanche's Ronnie Attard: Secures two-way deal
Attard inked a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Tuesday.
Attard failed to make an NHL appearance last year despite spending time with both the Flyers and Oilers organizations. While he went pointless in seven games with AHL Lehigh Valley, the Michigan native managed seven goals and 10 assists in 59 regular-season tilts with AHL Bakersfield. A depth option for the Avs, Attard figures to start the year in the minors.

Jeff Petry D | MIN
Panthers' Jeff Petry: Headed to Sunrise
Petry signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Florida on Tuesday, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN.
Petry had one goal, seven assists, 33 shots on net, 77 blocked shots and 51 hits in 44 regular-season appearances with Detroit in 2024-25. The 37-year-old defender will occupy a depth role with the Panthers in the 2025-26 campaign.

Nicklaus Perbix D | NSH
Predators' Nick Perbix: Moving to Music City
Perbix signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract with Nashville on Tuesday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
Perbix notched six goals, 13 assists and a plus-8 rating over 74 regular-season outings with Tampa Bay in 2024-25. The right-shot blueliner should be able to carve out more ice time with the Preds in 2025-26, as he managed 14:41 with the Lightning last season, mostly in a third-pairing capacity.

Brian Dumoulin D | LA
Kings' Brian Dumoulin: Lands three-year deal
Dumoulin signed a three-year, $12 million contract with Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Dumoulin will be part of a revamped blue line for the Kings after the team also added Cody Ceci and saw Vladislav Gavrikov leave in free agency. The 33-year-old Dumoulin won't offer a ton of offensive upside -- though he did record 22 points in 80 regular-season games with the Devils and Ducks last year. Still, the Maine native is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and gives the Kings a strong shutdown option on the blue line.
-
Cody Ceci D | LA
Kings' Cody Ceci: Staying on West Coast
Ceci agreed to terms on a four-year, $18 million contract with Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Ceci will effectively serve as a replacement for Vladislav Gavrikov on the Kings' blue line but will come in significantly cheaper. The 31-year-old Ceci split the 2024-25 campaign between Dallas and San Jose, recording four goals and 20 assists in 85 regular-season contests. The offense dried up for the Ontario native in the postseason, as he notched just three assists in 18 playoff games, including a 12-game pointless streak to end the year.

Nate Schmidt D | UTA
Mammoth's Nate Schmidt: Secures three-year contract
Schmidt signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal with Utah on Tuesday.
Schmidt will bring championship pedigree to Utah, having won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers this past season. During the regular season, the 33-year-old blueliner notched 19 points in 80 games, including four power-play points. While Schmidt has reached the 30-point threshold multiple times in his career, he hasn't even managed 20 in each of his last three seasons, so fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting an offensive explosion with the Mammoth.
