Christopher Tanev D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Chris Tanev: Might not be out for long
Tanev (upper body) isn't expected to play Friday against the Rangers, but he might not be out for long, per David Alter of The Hockey News on Wednesday.
Head coach Craig Berube described Tanev as day-to-day and regarded that as good news after the 35-year-old defenseman was injured during Tuesday's 5-4 overtime victory over Boston. Tanev has two goals, 17 points and 151 blocks in 57 appearances in 2024-25. Philippe Myers will likely draw back into the lineup due to Tanev's absence.

Alexandre Carrier D | MON
Canadiens' Alexandre Carrier: Adds helper Tuesday
Carrier notched an assist and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Hurricanes.
Carrier set up a Patrik Laine tally at even strength in the first period. This ended a three-game dry spell for Carrier, matching his longest slump on offense since he was dealt to the Canadiens from the Predators. He's not a massive scoring threat, but he has chipped in at a reasonably consistent pace while seeing top-four minutes. He's earned 13 of his 20 points this season while with Montreal, and he's added 58 shots on net, 53 hits, 105 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating across 55 outings overall.

Lane Hutson D | MON
Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Scores with man advantage
Hutson scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Hurricanes.
Hutson has four points over his last six games, and he's earned three of them on the power play. The 21-year-old provided an insurance tally in the third period of Tuesday's win. Hutson has already proven himself an adept scoring threat from the back end, earning four goals, 39 assists and 19 power-play points across 58 appearances. He's added 67 shots on net, 83 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-17 rating -- while he's making an effort and playing big minutes, he still has some work to do in his own zone.

Nick Seeler D | PHI
Flyers' Nick Seeler: Quiet on offense
Seeler's point drought reached 14 games in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Penguins.
A big scoring performance like that one would have been a good chance for a slumping player to get back on the scoresheet, but Seeler didn't do that. He's gone plus-4 with 25 hits, 35 blocked shots and 13 shots on net during his drought. Seeler is in no danger of losing his place in the lineup -- he's a hard-working shutdown defenseman, so as long as he continues to take care of his own zone, he'll remain in head coach John Tortorella's good graces. For the season, Seeler has 13 points, 56 shots on net, 69 hits and 134 blocked shots over 54 appearances in a bottom-four role.

Rasmus Ristolainen D | PHI
Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Finds twine in big win
Ristolainen scored a goal in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Penguins.
Ristolainen has three points over his last two games. That's fantastic production, but it is unlikely to last in the long run, as the 30-year-old defenseman will likely have to put some focus on defense again. He's having a reliable campaign, earning four goals, 14 assists, 86 hits, 86 blocked shots, 78 shots on net and a plus-5 rating across 56 appearances. He's also been involved on the power play lately, giving him a bit more appeal in fantasy.

Roman Josi D | NSH
Predators' Roman Josi: Still being evaluated
Josi (upper body) is regarded as day-to-day for now, but he's still being evaluated, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports Wednesday.
Josi left Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Florida after he was hit by Sam Bennett in the second period. The 34-year-old Josi has nine goals and 38 points in 53 appearances in 2024-25. If Josi misses Thursday's tilt against Winnipeg, then Jake Livingstone will likely make his NHL season debut.

Ilya Solovyov D | PIT
Flames' Ilya Solovyov: Gets first point of season
Solovyov notched an assist and four hits in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Capitals.
The Flames waived Tyson Barrie last week, opening the door for Solovyov to challenge Jake Bean for third-pairing minutes. Solovyov was able to get his first point of the season when he set up Martin Pospisil's first-period tally. Through three outings, Solovyov has added four shots on net, 10 hits and three blocked shots. He's playing limited minutes, so he's unlikely to offer enough production in most fantasy formats.
-
Kevin Bahl D | CGY
Flames' Kevin Bahl: Earns assist in return
Bahl logged an assist and blocked three shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Capitals.
Bahl missed nine games -- eight due to an upper-body and one due to an illness. He appears to be in good health now after logging 23:01 of ice time in Tuesday's win, and he was able to assist on Matthew Coronato's first-period tally that stood as the game-winner. Bahl has already earned a career year on offense with 15 points through 48 contests, but his biggest contributions are in his own zone. He's added 67 hits, 82 blocked shots, 51 shots on net, 29 PIM and a plus-2 rating while serving as a shutdown defender.

Noah Dobson D | MON
Islanders' Noah Dobson: Set to return Thursday
Dobson (lower body) is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday's matchup with Boston, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Dobson looks set to return to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 20 against the Blue Jackets, a stretch of 11 games on the shelf due to his lower-body issue. Prior to getting hurt, the 25-year-old blueliner was riding a three-game point streak, so he'll undoubtedly be looking to pick up where he left off. Now that Dobson is back, Scott Perunovich will likely find himself relegated to a spot in the press box as a healthy scratch.

Urho Vaakanainen D | NYR
Rangers' Urho Vaakanainen: Three points in win Tuesday
Vaakanainen recorded a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Islanders.
Vaakanainen gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at the 6:22 mark of the first period, scoring with a shot from the top of the right circle that deflected off Islanders defenseman Scott Perunovich. It was his second goal across his last four outings, but his impressive outing didn't stop there, as he also notched two helpers throughout the rest of the game. He's up to nine points in 26 contests this season, with four of those points coming in his last four appearances.
