  • Adam Boqvist D | NYI

    Panthers' Adam Boqvist: Waived Wednesday

Boqvist was waived by Florida on Thursday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Boqvist hasn't been in the lineup since Jan. 6, so this move isn't shocking. However, his demotion would leave the Panthers with just six defensemen on the roster, so Florida will probably recall a blueliner from the minors. Boqvist has two goals and six points in 18 outings this campaign.

  • Wild's Jared Spurgeon: Scores goal for 400th career point

Spurgeon scored a power-play goal and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs.

Spurgeon has two goals and an assist over four contests since he returned from a lower-body injury. His goal Wednesday was his 400th career point, a milestone he achieved in his 903rd appearance. The defenseman looks to be in a groove and could give fantasy managers a boost prior to the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Spurgeon has six goals, 16 points (four on the power play), 65 shots on net, 62 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 36 outings in a top-four role this season.

  • Ryker Evans D | SEA

Kraken's Ryker Evans: Dealing with upper-body issue

Evans will be sidelined against San Jose on Thursday due to an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day, Alison Lukan of the Kraken Hockey Network reports.

Evans logged just 17:59 of ice time versus the Ducks on Tuesday, his first time dipping below 20 minutes since Jan. 11 versus Buffalo, so it's possible that's when he picked up his upper-body ailment. With the 23-year-old blueliner unavailable, Cale Fleury was called up from AHL Coachella Valley and will make only his third NHL appearance this season.

  • Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov: Nabs helper in 1,000th game

Kulikov recorded an assist in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Kings.

Kulikov didn't have to wait long to make his 1,000th NHL game a little more special, as he helped out on Sam Bennett's tally in the first period. With 245 points in his career, Kulikov has averaged roughly 20 points per 82-game season while often adding a physical element on defense. This season, he's produced 11 points, 51 shots on net, 90 hits, 56 blocked shots, 30 PIM and a plus-7 rating across 52 appearances.

  • Adam Ginning D | PHI

Flyers' Adam Ginning: Called up from AHL

Ginning was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Thursday, per the NHL media site.

Ginning was selected in the second round -- 50th overall -- in the 2018 Draft, and remained in Sweden through the 2021-22 season. He has one goal in 10 NHL games over the last two seasons, and had a goal and five points in 42 AHL contests before his recall. The Flyers are down to six healthy defensemen as Egor Zamula is out of action with an upper-body injury.

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Managing upper-body issue

Head coach Pete DeBoer said Thursday that Lundkvist is dealing with an upper-body injury, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Lundkvist was placed on injured reserve Wednesday for an undisclosed reason, but it's now been revealed that he's dealing with an upper-body ailment. A timetable for his return hasn't yet been disclosed, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return to game action before the 4 Nations Face-Off in mid-February.

  • Stars' Miro Heiskanen: Deemed week-to-week

Heiskanen (lower body) underwent an MRI on Wednesday and is considered week-to-week, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Thursday.

Heiskanen's status will be further determined once the Stars get the full results of Wednesday's MRI. The 25-year-old blueliner hasn't been ruled out for the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it certainly seems to be heading in that direction. Dallas recalled Kyle Capobianco from the minors, but it will likely be Ilya Lyubushkin who steps into a more prominent role with Heiskanen unavailable.

  • Stars' Kyle Capobianco: Back in NHL

Capobianco was recalled from AHL Texas on Thursday, per Brien Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest.

The Stars need an extra defenseman as Miro Heiskanen is week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury Tuesday courtesy of a hit by the Golden Knights' Mark Stone. The Stars had five healthy defensemen heading into Friday's tilt against the Canucks before the recall of Capobianco. Capobianco had two goals and 26 assists in 35 AHL games before his recall.

  • Oilers' John Klingberg: Will debut Thursday

Klingberg (hip) will make his Edmonton debut versus the Red Wings on Thursday, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

Klingberg has been sidelined since Nov. 11, 2023 due to a hip injury that he sustained against the Canucks, a stretch of more than 14 months on the shelf due to the ailment. While the 32-year-old blueliner has historically eaten up big minutes in his previous stops in his career, he probably will be eased into action with his new club.

  • Nick Jensen D | OTT

Senators' Nick Jensen: Set to remain out Thursday

Jensen (undisclosed) is not expected to be in the lineup versus Washington on Thursday.

Jensen will be out of action for his third consecutive contest due to his undisclosed injury. Once cleared to play, Jensen should move into a spot on the third pairing, which would likely drop Tyler Kleven or Nikolas Matinpalo from the lineup.
