Charlie McAvoy D | BOS
Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Returning against Jets
McAvoy (upper body) will be back in the lineup versus Winnipeg on Thursday, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
McAvoy looks set to return from a seven-game stint on the shelf due to his upper-body injury. Prior to his absence, the blueliner was stuck in a 19-game goal drought but was still able to chip in 10 helpers over that stretch. In addition to linking up with Mason Lohrei on the Bruins' top pairing, McAvoy should reclaim his spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.

Brandon Carlo D | TOR
Bruins' Brandon Carlo: Returning to action Thursday
Carlo (illness) will be available for Thursday's home game against the Jets, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
Carlo missed Tuesday's matchup against Buffalo due to an illness, but he'll be back in action following a one-game absence. Over his last four appearances, he's logged two assists, three hits and two blocked shots while averaging 18:57 of ice time.

Cale Fleury D | SEA
Kraken's Cale Fleury: Called up from minors
Fleury was recalled from AHL Coachella Valley on Thursday.
The Kraken had only six defenseman on the roster, necessitating the recall of Fleury. The 26-year-old blueliner has played two games in the NHL this season, but he has yet to hit the scoresheet. Fleury had six goals and 10 assists in 28 AHL games this season before his recall.

Brett Pesce D | NJ
Devils' Brett Pesce: Two-point effort Wednesday
Pesce produced two assists with six shots on net, three blocked shots, a hit and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Flyers.
The veteran defenseman had a hand in the Devils' final two tallies of the night, snapping a scoring drought in which he'd managed just one assist over his prior 14 games. Pesce has been a reliable presence on the blue line in his first season with New Jersey, racking up 89 blocked shots across 44 appearances -- giving the 30-year-old a chance to top his prior career high of 148 blocks, set in 2016-17.

Luke Hughes D | NJ
Devils' Luke Hughes: Two-point effort against Philly
Hughes scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Flyers.
The Hughes brothers, Luke and Jack, each had two points on the night, and Luke's tally was a thing of beauty. The 21-year-old blueliner collected an errant pass in his own zone, accelerated down the ice and snapped the puck past Samuel Ersson from the high slot. It was Hughes' first multi-point performance since Dec. 27 and his first power-play point since Dec. 23 as he struggles to make a consistent impact, but he's still flashing the talent that made him the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. On the season, Hughes has four goals and 21 points over 44 appearances.

John Marino D | UTA
Hockey Club's John Marino: Gathers helper
Marino notched an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins.
Marino has three helpers over his last five contests. The 27-year-old played a large role while helping to cover Mikhail Sergachev's recent five-game absence. For now, it looks like Utah will pair Sergachev and Marino together as a do-it-all top defensive unit. Marino is at four assists, eight shots on net and nine blocked shots over eight appearances this season and will likely be a bigger contributor in the defensive metrics.

Mikhail Sergachev D | UTA
Hockey Club's Mikhail Sergachev: Power-play goal in return
Sergachev scored a power-play goal on three shots and blocked four shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins.
Sergachev logged 25:57 in his return from an upper-body injury. The 26-year-old had gone 13 games without a goal prior to his five-game absence, but he was able to find the twine in the first period of his return. The blueliner is up to nine goals, 31 points (13 on the power play), 75 shots on net, 85 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating through 45 appearances. He's safe to activate in fantasy and should see a large role with significant time in all situations.

Matt Grzelcyk D | CHI
Penguins' Matt Grzelcyk: New career high in points
Grzelcyk notched an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.
Grzelcyk continues to produce on offense -- he has five helpers over his last seven contests. He helped out on a Marcus Pettersson tally in the second period of this game. Grzelcyk is up to a career-high 27 points while adding 63 shots on net, 70 blocked shots and a minus-14 rating through 53 appearances this season. It wouldn't be surprising for the 31-year-old to end up around the 40-point mark if he sustains his current pace.

Marcus Pettersson D | VAN
Penguins' Marcus Pettersson: Tallies in Wednesday's win
Pettersson scored a goal, added two hits and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.
Pettersson's tally briefly tied the game at 1-1 in the second period. The 28-year-old blueliner has had modest success in January with a goal and four assists over 14 contests while seeing time in the top four. He's at three goals, 18 points, 43 shots on net, 83 blocked shots, 57 hits and a minus-2 rating over 47 outings this season. Pettersson produces enough offense to be a depth option for fantasy.

Erik Karlsson D | PIT
Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Nets equalizer Wednesday
Karlsson scored a goal on five shots and added two hits in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Utah.
Karlsson's tally tied the game at 2-2 in the third period. The defenseman was able to avoid going pointless during the Penguins' seven-game road trip, and he added 18 shots on net, four hits and four blocked shots in that span. He's now at five goals, 33 points, 133 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and a minus-15 rating over 53 appearances this season. He's on pace for roughly 50 points this season -- it would be his third in a row at that mark if he's able to attain it.
