Sharks' Jake Walman: Targeting Friday return

Walman (lower body) is hoping to rejoin the lineup against Utah on Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

While the news effectively rules Walmn out versus Vegas on Tuesday, it appears the blueliner is making strides in his recovery. While the Toronto native had just one goal in 10 games prior to getting hurt, he did manage to rack up seven helpers over that stretch, including three with the man advantage. In order to face Utah, Walman will first need to be activated off injured reserve.

  • Jake McCabe D | TOR

Maple Leafs' Jake McCabe: No timeline for return

McCabe (upper body) doesn't have a timetable for his return to the lineup, Evan Doerfler of The Hockey New reports Tuesday.

McCabe moved to injured reserve Monday after being hurt in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over Philadelphia. The Maple Leafs expect to know more about the 31-year-old defender's status once he resumes skating. He has produced 10 assists, 11 points, 37 shots on goal, 68 blocked shots and 72 hits through 36 appearances this season. Conor Timmins will replace McCabe in Tuesday's rematch with the Flyers.

  • Devils' Johnny Kovacevic: Notches assist Monday

Kovacevic picked up an assist and blocked two shots in Monday's 3-2 win over the Kraken.

Kovacevic helped out on Paul Cotter's second-period tally. The 27-year-old Kovacevic has just three assists to go with 21 hits and 24 blocked shots over 16 contests since the start of December. That highlights his skills as a physical, top-four defenseman, but his limited offense won't help most fantasy managers. Overall, he has 12 points, 37 shots on net, 54 hits, 57 blocked shots, 33 PIM and a plus-16 rating over 43 outings, so he should be able to top his career high of 15 points from 2022-23 with the Canadiens.

  • Canadiens' Alexandre Carrier: Picks up assist in overtime win

Carrier provided an assist and two blocked shots in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Canucks.

Carrier ended a three-game slump with the helper. He's earned five assists over nine outings since he was traded to Montreal from Nashville. Carrier has steadily seen top-four usage with the Canadiens, but he's not a factor on the power play, which limits his upside. He's produced 12 points, 34 shots on net, 42 hits, 62 blocked shots and a minus-14 rating over 37 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Kaiden Guhle D | MON

Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Pots goal Monday

Guhle scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Canucks.

Guhle has three points over six games since the holiday break. That's a good sign that his offense is coming around -- prior to the break, he had gone 14 contests without a point. The 22-year-old defense has three goals, six assists, 38 shots on net, 50 hits, 82 blocked shots, 23 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 34 outings this season while filling a top-four role with minimal power-play time.

  • Justin Faulk D | DET

Blues' Justin Faulk: Set to return Tuesday

Faulk (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday versus Minnesota, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.

Faulk missed two games due to his injury, but he'll be available for an important divisional game in Minnesota. Faulk could be eased back into action Tuesday, as he's projected to slot in on the third pairing alongside Tyler Tucker. Scott Perunovich will be a healthy scratch now that Faulk is healthy.

  • Cale Fleury D | SEA

Kraken's Cale Fleury: Demoted to minors

Fleury was returned to AHL Coachella Valley on Tuesday, per Sound of Hockey.

Fleury has logged just two NHL games this season in which he recorded four hits, three blocks and one shot while averaging 11:29 of ice time. Given his limited usage, Fleury shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value even if he is recalled from the minors down the road.

  • Kevin Gravel D | NSH

Predators' Kevin Gravel: Sent down Tuesday

Gravel was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Gravel has recorded an assist over three appearances with the Predators in 2024-25. He'll link back up with the Admirals, where he's chipped in a goal and four helpers over 25 games this season.

  • Jets' Dylan Samberg: Making progress in recovery

Samberg (foot) has gone through conditioning skates in back-to-back days, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports Tuesday.

Samberg was placed on injured reserve Nov. 24 after suffering a broken foot Nov. 23 against Nashville. The Minnesota native is getting close to a return but isn't ready to return to the lineup yet, per Wiebe. Ville Heinola could be a healthy scratch when Samberg is back to full strength.

  • Colin Miller D | WPG

Jets' Colin Miller: Sustains fracture in larynx

Miller (neck) will miss at least two weeks after suffering a fracture in his larynx, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports Tuesday.

Miller sustained the injury in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Detroit after getting struck in the throat by the puck. He has contributed two goals, eight points, 40 shots on net, 28 blocked shots and 46 hits over 34 outings this season. Dylan Coghlan will replace Miller in Tuesday's lineup versus Nashville.
