Jeff Petry D | MIN
Red Wings' Jeff Petry: Sustains injury in Thursday's game
Petry (undisclosed) left Thursday's game versus the Blue Jackets in the third period, and there was no update on his status after the contest, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.
Petry is considered day-to-day for now, leaving him in doubt to play Saturday in Winnipeg. If he can't suit up, Albert Johansson will likely take Petry's place in the lineup.

Hampus Lindholm D | BOS
Bruins' Hampus Lindholm: Making progress, but not skating
Lindholm (lower body) is making progress, but isn't ready to start skating yet, per Conor Ryan of Boston.com on Thursday.
Lindholm hasn't played since Nov. 12, and there's no timetable for his return to the ice, so it seems fair to believe he isn't close to playing, given that there will be additional steps between him skating and getting into a game. He has three goals and seven points in 17 appearances in 2024-25. When healthy, Lindholm is a key part of Boston's blue line, serving in a top-four capacity and receiving a solid amount of power-play ice time.

Jared Spurgeon D | MIN
Wild's Jared Spurgeon: Labeled week-to-week
Spurgeon (lower body) was labeled week-to-week Thursday.
Spurgeon should be expected to miss multiple games after he was slew-footed by Zachary L'Heureux, who was suspended three contests for the misdeed, in Tuesday's game versus the Predators. The Wild will be without their captain for a bit, with Travis Dermott getting the first opportunity in the lineup in place of Spurgeon.

Dylan DeMelo D | WPG
Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Slated to play Thursday
DeMelo (undisclosed) is expected to play Thursday versus Anaheim, per Cole Bagley of KSL Sports.
DeMelo has a goal, seven points, 64 hits and 46 blocks in 39 appearances in 2024-25. He exited Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Colorado after blocking a shot in the third period, but it seems he won't miss a full game due to the injury.

Robert Bortuzzo D | UTA
Hockey Club's Robert Bortuzzo: Available Thursday
Bortuzzo (lower body) is available for Thursday's game against Calgary, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
Bortuzzo has been taken off injured reserve, per the NHL media site. He has two assists, 20 hits and 25 blocks over 15 outings in 2024-25. Although he's now healthy, there's no guarantee Bortuzzo will draw into the lineup Thursday.

Spencer Stastney D | EDM
Predators' Spencer Stastney: Up from minors
Stastney was called up by Nashville on Thursday, according to John Glennon of NHL.com.
Stastney has a goal and three points in 10 outings with AHL Milwaukee in 2024-25. He's up from the minors since defensemen Adam Wilsby (upper body) and Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) are both dealing with injuries. If Wilsby and Lauzon can't play Friday versus Vancouver, then Stastney would likely draw into the lineup as a member of the third pairing.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic D | SJ
Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Suiting up against Bolts
Vlasic (back) will be in the lineup versus Tampa Bay on Thursday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Vlasic will make his 2024-25 season debut after missing the opening months of the campaign due to his back problem. Considering the veteran blueliner hasn't topped the 20-point threshold since 2018-19, when he needed 72 games to do it, fantasy players probably shouldn't be banking on him to reach that mark this year either.
-
Dakota Mermis D | TOR
Hockey Club's Dakota Mermis: Put on waivers
Mermis was waived by Utah on Thursday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Mermis previously went on waivers Dec. 11 and was claimed by Utah. The 30-year-old defenseman ended up appearing in just one game for Utah -- he recorded two shots and one block in 10:47 of ice time during a 5-4 shootout loss to Anaheim on Dec. 22.
-
Artem Zub D | OTT
Senators' Artem Zub: Activated from long-term IR
Zub (foot) was activated from long-term injured reserve on Thursday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Zub will return to the lineup for the first time since Nov. 23, a span of 16 games. The blueliner had two assists, 16 hits and 19 blocked shots in 11 games before his injury. Look for Zub to line up on the third pairing, alongside Tyler Kleven.

Connor Murphy D | EDM
Blackhawks' Connor Murphy: Dealing with groin issue
Murphy will not practice Thursday due to a groin injury, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
At this point, Murphy should be considered questionable heading into Friday's matchup with the Canadiens. The 31-year-old blueliner is pointless in his last five outings while recording 15 blocks, 12 hits and seven shots and averaging 19:32 of ice time. If Murphy does miss time, Wyatt Kaiser figures to step into his spot on the blue line.
