Nathan Clurman D | MON
Penguins' Nate Clurman: Returns to minors
Clurman was sent to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, per Wes Crosby of NHL.com.
Clurman was also reassigned to the minors Thursday only to be recalled Friday, so it's entirely possible this is another paper transaction. Clurman has been serving primarily as the Penguins' seventh defenseman because Kris Letang (undisclosed) and Owen Pickering (concussion) are on the shelf.

Jonas Siegenthaler D | NJ
Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler: Finds twine in Tuesday's loss
Siegenthaler scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Ducks.
Siegenthaler got the Devils on the board at 5:31 of the third period with an unassisted tally. The 27-year-old has two points over his last three outings, which follows an 18-game slump. He's at two goals, seven assists, 37 shots on net, 59 hits, 71 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a plus-10 rating through 40 contests. He's matched his point total from 57 appearances in 2023-24, but it's unlikely the Swiss blueliner will match his career high of 21 points from the year prior.

Brian Dumoulin D | LA
Ducks' Brian Dumoulin: Breaks out of drought
Dumoulin recorded an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Devils.
Dumoulin put a 15-game slump to rest when he helped out on Robby Fabbri's third-period tally. The 33-year-old Dumoulin is not a big scorer, instead serving as a veteran defensive presence for the Ducks this season. He has seven assists, 36 shots on net, 34 hits and 56 blocked shots through 36 outings. The Ducks have mostly limited healthy scratches to younger blueliners, so Dumoulin should play regularly even if he doesn't produce much offense.

Denton Mateychuk D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Earns first NHL point
Mateychuk registered an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Hurricanes.
Mateychuk has played in four straight contests, and it looks like the Blue Jackets will give him a chance to prove himself as long as they're running seven-defensemen lineups. Mateychuk could even get a chance to solidify a spot beyond that -- Jake Christiansen saw just four shifts in Tuesday's game. The helper was Mateychuk's first NHL point, and he's added five hits and three blocked shots while featuring on the second power-play unit.

Martin Fehervary D | WAS
Capitals' Martin Fehervary: Is day-to-day
Fehervary missed Wednesday's practice after being struck in the face by a stick during Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Boston, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.
Fehervary is regarded as day-to-day and is expected to be re-evaluated Thursday. He has seven assists, 69 hits and 79 blocks in 37 outings in 2024-25. If he can't play in Thursday's tilt against Minnesota, then Dylan McIlrath might draw into the lineup.

Jamie Drysdale D | PHI
Flyers' Jamie Drysdale: Dishes two assists in win
Drysdale notched two assists and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Sharks.
Drysdale doubled his point total since he returned from an upper-body injury Dec. 8. The 22-year-old blueliner has four helpers over 11 contests since his return, though he's mainly been stuck on the third pairing. For the season, he has seven points, 23 shots on net, 40 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating through 26 appearances. Without a larger role, his upside is limited, but he is seeing power-play time.
-
Nick Seeler D | PHI
Flyers' Nick Seeler: Scores in Tuesday's win
Seeler scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Sharks.
Seeler's goal was his first since Dec. 5. The defenseman actually did pretty well in December with two goals and four assists over 13 games, matching his point total from his first 20 outings of the season. He's at three goals, 12 points, 37 shots on net, 34 hits, 82 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 33 appearances in a third-pairing role. Seeler's usage is limited, but he's two points away from matching his career high from 2022-23, and he does enough non-scoring stuff to be useful in deep fantasy formats.

Zach Werenski D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Huge workload in shootout win
Werenski produced a power-play assist while adding a game-high 11 shots on net in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Hurricanes.
The veteran blueliner saw an incredible 30:07 of ice time, and that was on a night when coach Dean Evason elected to go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Werenski scored a career-high 57 points (11 goals, 46 assists) in 2023-24 over 70 games, but he's on pace to shatter that mark in 2024-25. Through 38 appearances, he's already amassed 11 goals and 40 points, and his 145 shots on net puts him fifth in the NHL and first among all defenseman, behind only David Pastrnak (156), Brady Tkachuk (150), Nathan MacKinnon (148) and Jack Hughes (147). With the Blue Jackets surprisingly within striking distance of a playoff spot, Werenski is positioning himself to garner Norris Trophy votes at the end of the season.

Ty Smith D | CAR
Hurricanes' Ty Smith: Pots power-play marker
Smith scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.
Summoned from AHL Chicago on the weekend to take the spot of Shayne Gostisbehere (upper body), Smith immediately slotted onto Carolina's first power-play unit and needed just two games to score his first goal in the NHL this season. The 24-year-old blueliner has always had offensive talent and was the 17th overall pick in the 2018 Draft, but defensive lapses have kept him from establishing himself at the top level. Smith could have some short-term fantasy value as a power-play specialist, as Gostisbehere lacks a firm timeline yet for his return.

Niko Mikkola D | FLA
Panthers' Niko Mikkola: Not available for Thursday
Mikkola (upper body) is making progress, but he won't return for Thursday's game against Carolina, per Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site.
It will be Mikkola's third straight game on the shelf. He has four goals, 14 points, 53 hits and 47 blocks in 36 appearances in 2024-25. When healthy, Mikkola typically gets top-four minutes but doesn't have a role on the power play.
