  • Devon Toews D | COL

    Avalanche's Devon Toews: Unavailable Thursday

Toews (upper body) will miss Thursday's game in Montreal, per the NHL media site.

Toews hasn't been in the lineup since Jan. 3 because of the injury. He has a goal, 13 points, 18 PIM, 14 hits and 58 blocks in 40 outings in 2025-26. His next opportunity to play will come Saturday in Detroit.

  • Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Won't play Thursday

Ristolainen (lower body) will miss Thursday's game in Boston, per Brandon J. Sommermann of The Brotherly Bullies.

Ristolainen left Wednesday's 5-3 loss to Columbus because of the injury. He has three assists, four PIM, 24 shots, 18 hits and 25 blocks in 15 outings with Philadelphia this season. Emil Andrae is set to draw back into the lineup due to Ristolainen's absence.

  • Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Placed on injured reserve

Edvinsson (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

The Red Wings announced Monday that Edvinsson had been ruled out through the Olympic break, so his placement on injured reserve is simply procedural. Justin Holl and Sheldon Dries were called up Thursday to provide additional depth in Edvinsson's absence. Across 48 appearances this year, Edvinsson has accumulated six goals, 11 assists, 104 blocked shots, 63 hits and 54 PIM while averaging 22:35 of ice time.

  • Justin Holl D | STL

Red Wings' Justin Holl: Recalled Thursday

Holl was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday.

Simon Edvinsson (lower body) isn't expected to be available until after the Olympic break and was put on injured reserve in a corresponding move, so calling up Holl gives the Red Wings another healthy blueliner. The 33-year-old Holl has two goals and 10 points in 31 outings with Grand Rapids this season. He has 396 career regular-season appearances in the NHL, but he hasn't played at the top level yet this season.

  • Joel Nystrom D | CAR

Hurricanes' Joel Nystrom: Heads to minors

Nystrom was sent to AHL Chicago on Thursday.

Nystrom has a goal, nine points, six PIM, 43 shots, nine hits and 21 blocks in 37 appearances with Carolina in 2025-26. The 23-year-old has also recorded an assist in six outings with Chicago this season.

  • Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Questionable for Thursday's matchup

Sandin (lower body) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Red Wings, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

Sandin exited Saturday's game against the Oilers due to a lower-body injury and was unavailable Tuesday against the Kraken. He'll presumably be monitored in the hours leading up to Thursday's puck drop before the Capitals determine his status, while Declan Chisholm will likely remain in the lineup if Sandin is unavailable.

  • Matt Roy D | WAS

Capitals' Matt Roy: Status in question Thursday

Roy (lower body) is questionable for Thursday's clash with Detroit, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

Roy is currently mired in a six-game pointless streak and hasn't found the back of the net in 34 straight outings. With Rasmus Sandin (lower body) also in question, the duo of Declan Chisholm and Dylan McIlrath may have to continue holding down the third pairing.

  • Oilers' Mattias Ekholm: Game-time decision Thursday

Ekholm (undisclosed) will be a game-time call versus San Jose on Thursday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.

Ekholm has not missed a game this season and is coming off the best offensive game in his NHL career, as he potted a hat trick Monday versus Anaheim. Ekholm missed practice Wednesday and while he skated Thursday, the Oilers are still up in the air to put him in the lineup. Ekholm has six goals, 20 assists, 95 shots on goal, 50 hits and 87 blocked shots across 54 games this season.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Playing Thursday

Gostisbehere (lower body) will return to the lineup Thursday versus Utah, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Gostisbehere has missed the last five games due to his lower-body injury. The 32-year-old defenseman has six goals and 26 assists, including 10 power-play points, in 35 NHL games this season. Joel Nystrom is expected to come out of the lineup in favor of Gostisbehere.

  • Lightning's Ryan McDonagh: Ready to rock

McDonagh (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday and is slated to return to the lineup versus Winnipeg, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

McDonagh has missed the last 15 games, as well as 33 of the last 36 contests, with the same injury. McDonagh has four goals and four assists across 18 appearances this season. Look for Maxim Groshev to come out of the lineup for McDonagh.
