  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Secures first shutout of season

Vejmelka posted a 27-save shutout in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Ducks.

Vejmelka was held winless over his previous three outings, so this was a good bounce-back effort. The 29-year-old got plenty of support from a roster that saw a bit of rotation following Monday's 6-3 loss to the Sharks. Vejmelka's first shutout of the season moved him to 11-7-2 with a 2.73 GAA and an .891 save percentage over 21 starts. He'll likely start one of the next two games -- either Friday in Vancouver or Saturday in Calgary -- while Vitek Vanecek can be penciled in for the other game. Both are good matchups for Vejmelka to start rebuilding some positive momentum.

  • Ducks' Vyacheslav Buteyets: Makes debut in relief

Buteyets stopped 10 of 13 shots in relief of Ville Husso in Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Mammoth.

Buteyets played the third period, but he didn't perform all that well in his NHL debut. The 23-year-old is with the Ducks while Lukas Dostal (upper body) and Petr Mrazek (lower body) are out, but it'll likely be Husso getting the bulk of the playing time. Buteyets may still get a start at some point if both of the Ducks' regular goalies are out for a long enough stretch of time.

  • Ville Husso G | ANA

Ducks' Ville Husso: Struggles in blowout loss

Husso stopped 17 of 21 shots in two periods of Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Mammoth.

Husso has alternated wins and losses over his four appearances so far, allowing 10 goals on 71 shots. The 30-year-old was replaced by Vyacheslav Buteyets for the third period of this contest. Husso is primed for the Ducks' starting job in goal for at least a couple of weeks while Lukas Dostal (upper body) and Petr Mrazek (lower body) are both out. The playing time and the Ducks' offense make Husso a decent fantasy option, but only if he can settle in and provide competitive performances between the pipes. The Ducks have a tough matchup ahead when they host the Capitals on Friday.

  • Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Not great in relief outing

Nedeljkovic stopped 15 of 18 shots in relief of Yaroslav Askarov in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Capitals.

The Capitals didn't take it easy on Nedeljkovic, who was a little better than Askarov. This appearance didn't lead to a decision for Nedeljkovic, who remains at 3-5-2 through 12 appearances. The 29-year-old goalie has added a 3.19 GAA and an .893 save percentage this season, which has seen him settle into a backup role. The Sharks are setting out on a five-game road trip that begins Friday in Dallas, but without a back-to-back set during their travels, it's unclear when Nedeljkovic might next get into a game.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Pulled before first intermission

Askarov gave up four goals on 12 shots before he was replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic in the first period of Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Capitals.

It's the second time in four outings that Askarov has received an early hook. Brandon Duhaime's shorthanded tally was the final goal Askarov gave up in Wednesday's outing. He still ended up with the loss, falling to 10-7-1 with a 3.15 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 18 starts this season. After looking nearly invincible in early November, the 23-year-old netminder might be safer to use in favorable matchups in fantasy. He'll be a risky option if he gets the start Friday in Dallas as the Sharks begin a five-game road trip.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Keeps up winning ways

Lindgren stopped 23 of 24 shots in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Sharks.

The Capitals' explosive attack in the first period was more than enough for Lindgren to work with. He's picked up four wins over his last five appearances, giving up just 10 goals in that span. The 31-year-old netminder struggled early in the year, but he's turned things around as part of a bigger upswing by the Capitals as a whole. Lindgren is now 5-3-1 with a 2.90 GAA and an .893 save percentage over 10 appearances. Logan Thompson is likely to start in Anaheim on Friday, and with no back-to-back situations on the horizon, it's not immediately clear when Lindgren will get the nod again.

  • Predators' Matt Murray: Secures second shutout of season

Murray posted a 29-save shutout in AHL Milwaukee's 3-0 win over Iowa on Wednesday.

Murray has two shutouts this season, which he's opened by going 9-1-2 in 12 games. He's added a 1.98 GAA and a .936 save percentage. The Predators don't currently have a need for Murray at the NHL level, but he'll get the call if Juuse Saros or Justus Annunen get hurt.

  • Colten Ellis G | BUF

Sabres' Colten Ellis: Blitzed in first period

Ellis stopped 29 of 34 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Flyers.

Ellis gave up three goals, including two on Philadelphia power plays, in a span of 59 seconds during the first period. He allowed two more in the second before keeping things clean in the third, though it was too late to make a difference. Ellis continues to struggle to separate himself from Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon in the Sabres' goaltending battle. Ellis has a 4-3-0 record with a 3.40 GAA and an .892 save percentage over seven starts. It's safe to assume one of the other two goalies will get the nod Friday in Winnipeg after Ellis' lackluster performance Wednesday.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Allows two goals in win

Ersson stopped 24 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Sabres.

Ersson earned his first regulation win of the season after his previous four victories all came in the shootout. The 26-year-old limited the damage to goals by Jason Zucker and Bowen Byram. Ersson is now 5-2-2 with a 2.97 GAA and an .867 save percentage over nine appearances. Dan Vladar is still serving as the Flyers' go-to starter, but with three wins in his last four outings, Ersson has at least been able to get results lately. Neither goalie will be a recommended option in fantasy when the Flyers host the Avalanche on Sunday.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Guarding goal Wednesday

Lindgren will protect the road net versus the Sharks on Wednesday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Lindgren has won his last three decisions, allowing nine goals on 90 shots over four appearances in that span. He'll play the second half of a back-to-back after Logan Thompson guided the Capitals to a 3-1 win over the Kings on Tuesday. The Sharks present a bit of a challenge, as they've scored 15 goals while going 3-2-0 over their last five games.
