  • Eric Comrie G | WPG

Jets' Eric Comrie: Between pipes Saturday

Comrie will defend the home crease versus Calgary on Saturday, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.

Comrie is scheduled to play the entire game. He posted a 9-10-1 mark with two shutouts, a 2.39 GAA, and a .914 save percentage across 20 regular-season starts while backing up Connor Hellebuyck last campaign. Comrie will have the same role in 2025-26.

  • Devin Cooley G | CGY

    Flames' Devin Cooley: Facing Jets

Cooley will be between the visiting pipes in Winnipeg on Saturday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Cooley spent the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Calgary, posting a 21-17-5 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He has played six games at the NHL level, all with San Jose in the 2023-24 season, going 2-3-1 with a 4.98 GAA and an .870 save percentage. Barring an injury to Dustin Wolf or Ivan Prosvetov, Cooley will likely spend most of 2025-26 in the AHL.

  • Maple Leafs' Anthony Stolarz: Starting Saturday

Stolarz will patrol the home crease versus Montreal in preseason action Saturday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Stolarz will get his first start of the preseason. The 31-year-old will be the No. 1 netminder with the Maple Leafs, at least until Joseph Woll (personal) returns to the team. Stolarz led the NHL last season with a .926 save percentage and posted a 21-8-3 record with a 2.14 GAA across 34 regular-season appearances. Stolarz could appear in 50-55 games this season, depending on his health.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Gets starting nod Saturday

Ersson will be between the home pipes versus Boston on Saturday, Bill Meltzer of the Flyers' official site reports.

Ersson was the Flyers' No. 1 goaltender in 2024-25, despite some inconsistent efforts. He posted a 22-17-5 mark with a 3.14 GAA and an .883 save percentage across 47 regular-season games. Look for Ersson to start 45-50 games in 2025-26, barring any serious injury.

  • Matt Murray G | SEA

Kraken's Matt Murray: Set to start Friday

Murray will protect the road goal in Friday's preseason game versus the Canucks, per the NHL media site.

Murray will get the nod, though it's possible he'll split the game with Philipp Grubauer. Those two netminders are competing to be Joey Daccord's backup in 2025-26, though there is a slight chance the Kraken carry three goalies to avoid losing Murray on waivers.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Tending twine Friday

Schmid will guard the road goal versus the Sharks in Friday's preseason game, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

This will be Schmid's second preseason appearance after he stopped 13 of 14 shots in his previous outing. The 25-year-old has the inside track to begin the year as the Golden Knights' backup goalie, though he could lose that opportunity if the team makes a move to find a more experienced netminder to pair with Adin Hill.

  • Penguins' Tristan Jarry: Making Friday's start

Jarry will guard the home goal in Friday's preseason game versus the Red Wings.

This will be Jarry's preseason debut. The netminder is looking to secure his place as the Penguins' No. 1 goalie over Arturs Silovs in training camp.

  • Lightning's Jonas Johansson: Starting Friday

Johansson will guard the home goal in Friday's preseason game versus the Hurricanes, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

This will be Johansson's second appearance of the preseason. He turned aside 29 of 30 shots against the Hurricanes on Monday in his preseason debut. Johansson continues to see a sizable workload for a veteran, as Andrei Vasilevskiy (undisclosed) continues to be managed prior to the start of the regular season.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Will start Saturday

Merzlikins will be between the pipes on the road against the Penguins on Saturday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Merzlikins was underwhelming last year, going 26-21-5 with a 3.18 GAA and just one shutout in 53 regular-season outings. With Jet Greaves nipping at his heels, the 31-year-old Merzlikins will need to be on top of his game all season long to avoid losing starts to the youngster. Still, Merzlikins is the veteran option in the crease and enters the season as the No. 1 option.

  • Ivan Fedotov G | CLB

Blue Jackets' Ivan Fedotov: Placed on waivers

Fedotov was placed on waivers by the Blue Jackets on Friday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Fedotov was dealt to the Blue Jackets before the start of training camp and was unable to unseat Jet Greaves or Elvis Merzlikins for a spot on the roster. Fedotov will likely be sent to AHL Cleveland should he pass through waivers and be the first call-up in goal in the event that Greaves or Merzlikins suffer an injury.
