  • Islanders' Tristan Lennox: Odd usage in NHL debut

Lennox stopped one of two shots he faced in Thursday's 9-2 loss to the Rangers.

Head coach Patrick Roy made some odd decisions, which included pulling Marcus Hogberg after the Rangers' sixth goal. Lennox entered but gave up a goal, leading Roy to return Hogberg to the crease after just 4:43 of ice time for Lennox. It's a strange NHL debut and likely one Lennox may want to forget given how the Islanders played. He's set to be with the big club until Ilya Sorokin (lower body) can return, though with the Islanders' playoff chances nearly gone, Sorokin could get shut down.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Will start Friday

Gustavsson will get the start on the road against the Flames on Friday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

After getting Wednesday's game against the Sharks off, it will be Gustavsson in net for the Wild with a chance to clinch a playoff spot. The 26-year-old, who has played in all but three of Minnesota's 19 games since the beginning of March, will look to extend upon a career-high 30 wins. Gustavsson faced the Flames once earlier this season, stopping 28 of 31 shots (.903 save percentage) in a 4-3 shootout loss Nov. 23.

  • Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Gets starting nod Friday

Pickard will guard the home cage versus San Jose on Friday, per Ryan Rishaug of TSN.

Pickard is 4-1-0 in his last five starts, allowing only 11 goals on 133 shots (.917 save percentage). Overall, the 32-year-old is 21-9-1 with a 2.65 GAA and a .901 save percentage across 34 appearances this season. The Sharks are 30th in NHL scoring, generating 2.60 goals per game, but they did strike for seven goals Wednesday in an 8-7 overtime loss against the Wild.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Holds on in shootout win

Lindgren saved 30 of 34 shots on net in Thursday's 5-4 shootout win over the Hurricanes.

Despite allowing the first and last two goals in regulation, Lindgren was able to hang on in the extra period and shootout for the win. With Thursday's victory, the 31-year-old netminder is up to a 19-13-3 record with a 2.74 GAA and an .893 save percentage. While his overall performance has been a step down from a season ago, Lindgren is getting hot at the right time for the Capitals by winning three of his last four starts. Since Logan Thompson is temporarily sidelined with an upper-body injury, Lindgren may pick up a few more starts before the end of the regular season, boosting his value in fantasy leagues. His next opportunity to guard the crease is Saturday at Columbus.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Outdueled in shootout loss

Andersen made 24 of 28 saves in Thursday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Capitals.

Andersen had a strong first and third period Thursday night but allowed four consecutive goals from late in the first to the end of the second. He then tended a clean overtime before he surrendered the lone goal of the shootout to Washington's Pierre-Luc Dubois. Thursday was Andersen's first overtime loss of the season, which brings his overall record to 13-6-1 with a 2.20 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 20 games. After putting together a seven-game winning streak throughout March and into April during which he allowed just 10 goals, the 35-year-old netminder has lost back-to-back appearances and has conceded nine goals in that span. Given his track record in 2024-25, Andersen should bounce back and stay a top option in the crease for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Drawing start against Minnesota

Wolf will start Friday's home game against the Wild, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Wolf has been relatively sharp this month but his record doesn't reflect that notion, going 2-1-2 with a 2.36 GAA and .915 save percentage over five appearances. However, he'll draw a sixth consecutive start and should have a favorable matchup Friday, as the Wild are generating just 2.75 goals per game this season, which is the seventh-worst mark in the NHL.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Gives up four goals

Oettinger stopped 31 of 35 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Jets.

Oettinger didn't have his best performance Thursday, though to be fair, the entire Stars team looked overmatched in this 4-0 defeat. Oettinger has dropped his last two starts, but fantasy managers shouldn't be overly concerned by his performances. This was the first time Oettinger posted a save percentage below the .910 mark since March 18.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Posts 25-save shutout

Hellebuyck posted a 25-save shutout in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Stars.

This was a huge game for the Jets and Hellebuyck stepped up big time, posting his eighth shutout of the season, which helped the club bolster its lead in the standings. The eight shutouts are a career high for Hellebuyck, who continues to have an outstanding season. He's gone 45-12-3 with a 1.99 GAA and a .925 save percentage across 61 appearances, setting new career-best marks in all of those categories.

  • Blue Jackets' Elvis Merzlikins: Won't play Saturday

Merzlikins (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup against the Capitals on Saturday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Head coach Dean Evason didn't provide a specific timeline for Merzlikins to get back into the crease, but at this point, it seems unlikely he would immediately jump back in for the second of a back-to-back against the Capitals on Sunday. Still, as long as the Jackets have an outside chance of making the postseason, they'll likely want to utilize their No. 1 netminder between the pipes. Jet Greaves got the starting nod in a win over Buffalo on Thursday, so Evason may have to consider going back to the 24-year-old Saturday.

  • Penguins' Tristan Jarry: Facing Devils

Jarry will patrol the visiting crease in New Jersey on Friday, per Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.

Jarry shut out the Blackhawks on Tuesday, turning aside 26 shots. He is 15-11-6 with a 3.16 GAA and an .890 save percentage over 34 outings in 2024-25. The Devils are generating 2.96 goals per game this season, 18th in the NHL.
