  • Rangers' Joe Veleno: Departs Sunday's home game

Veleno (lower body) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's home game versus the Mammoth.

Veleno was injured in the first period after getting tangled up with Clayton Keller along the boards. Veleno did not put any weight on his right leg when he was helped off the ice, per Peter Baugh of The Athletic. Should the 26-year-old forward miss out Tuesday against the Islanders, Matt Rempe might draw into the lineup, but the Rangers could also elect to roll with 11 forwards and seven blueliners. In the latter scenario, Matthew Robertson or Scott Morrow would draw into the lineup.

  • Kings' Jimmy Lombardi: Five-point burst for Flint

Lombardi scored a goal on seven shots and added four assists in OHL Flint's 7-2 win over London on Sunday.

Lombardi has gotten on the scoresheet in all four of Flint's game this season, but this was his first big performance. The Kings prospect has two goals, six assists and 14 shots on net so far. He's captaining the Firebirds this season as he looks to build on the 72-point regular season he had over 65 games in 2025-26. Lombardi will likely debut for AHL Ontario in 2027-28 after signing his entry-level deal last December.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: All-around performance Sunday

Seider recorded a power-play assist, placed three shots on net, had four blocked shots and dished out a hit in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Winnipeg.

Seider has been known for being one of the NHL's most well-balanced defensemen over the past few seasons, and he showcased that in Sunday's narrow loss. The 25-year-old blueliner got involved offensively with a power-play helper on Viktor Arvidsson's first goal with Detroit. Additionally, he battled defensively with four blocked shots, bringing his season total up to seven across two appearances. He's coming off a career year in 2025-26, but affirmed to the media that he wants to take another step forward in the upcoming campaign. He's one of the true elite fantasy blueliners in leagues that value hits and blocks in addition to offensive contributions.

  • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Finds twine in loss

Finnie bagged a goal, put two shots on net and dished out two hits in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Jets.

Finnie found the back of the net for his first tally of the 2026-27 season early in Sunday's third period. The 21-year-old center posted solid numbers in his rookie campaign, where he compiled 13 goals, 30 points, 120 shots on net, 131 hits and 41 blocked shots across 82 regular-season outings. With Dylan Larkin (upper body) sidelined amid an injury and trade rumors, Finnie could be a regular top-six center for the Red Wings in 2026-27 and beyond. He is a must-roster player in all dynasty fantasy leagues and he also holds some appeal as an all-around threat in deep leagues for the upcoming campaign.

  • Red Wings' Viktor Arvidsson: Nets first goal with Red Wings

Arvidsson tallied a power-play goal, placed three shots on net and picked up two PIM in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Winnipeg.

Arvidsson tallied his first goal in Detroit on a power-play late in the second period. The 33-year-old winger is fresh off signing a two-year, $10 million contract with the Red Wings in the offseason following his stellar bounce-back campaign. In 69 regular-season outings with the Bruins during the 2025-26 campaign, he went off for 25 goals, 54 points and 176 shots on net. With the Red Wings likely to part ways with Dylan Larkin (upper body) and at risk of losing Simon Edvinsson (contract dispute), Arvidsson will likely be relied upon to provide offensively in the 2026-27 campaign, making him a strong option in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Jets' Josh Morrissey: Adds pair of helpers Sunday

Morrissey distributed two power-play assists, launched seven shots on net and had two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over Detroit.

Morrissey got on the board in the 2026-27 campaign with a pair of power-play helpers across the first period and a half of Sunday's contest. The 31-year-old blueliner took a small step back in his production with a man advantage in 2025-26, regressing from 22 to 16 points. However, he looks sharp on the power play to begin the new campaign, so he could be in for a bounce-back season as the team's clear No. 1 option to quarterback the man-advantage unit. Expect Morrissey to contend for his fourth campaign in the last five seasons with at least 60 points.

  • Jets' Cole Perfetti: Involved in all three goals

Perfetti tallied a power-play goal, recorded two power-play assists and put two shots on net in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Red Wings.

After picking up an assist in Friday's overtime loss to the Bruins, Perfetti played a hand in each of the Jets' three power-play goals Sunday. He scored the first goal himself just over 13 minutes into the contest before picking up a secondary helper on each of Kyle Connor's tallies. While Perfetti is coming off a down year, where he posted just 32 points in 68 regular-season games, he's a strong bounce-back candidate after his hot start to the new year. If he can partially maintain his current rate of scoring, he should be in contention to challenge his career high of 50 points, making him a solid fantasy option in deep leagues.

  • Kyle Connor LW | WPG

Jets' Kyle Connor: Stays hot with three points

Connor scored two power-play goals, provided a power-play assist and fired five shots on net in Sunday's 3-2 win over Detroit.

Connor's excellent start to the 2026-27 campaign continued Sunday. After posting a pair of points against the Bruins on Friday, he played the hero in Sunday's clash with Detroit by plating the primary helper on Cole Perfetti's goal before he scored twice at a man advantage himself. All three of Connor's goals in the new season have been on the power play, which is an encouraging sign that the 29-year-old winger could blow his total of five man-advantage goals from a season ago out of the water. He's poised to be an elite fantasy option in all formats once again in the 2026-27 campaign, where he'll aim to secure 90-plus points for the third consecutive year.

  • Jake DeBrusk LW | VAN

Canucks' Jake DeBrusk: Ruled out for Sunday's game

DeBrusk (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Golden Knights, Ben Kuzma of Postmedia reports.

DeBrusk will be unavailable for a second consecutive matchup due to his illness, but he's slated to travel with the Canucks during their upcoming six-game road trip. He's recorded an assist and two PIM across two appearances this year.

  • John Gibson G | DET

Red Wings' John Gibson: Yields three shorthanded goals

Gibson stopped 24 of 27 shots on goal in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Jets.

After a strong Opening Night performance, where he allowed just one goal, Gibson conceded three times Sunday. However, the skaters in front of him didn't make life easier for the 33-year-old netminder, as all three of the goals he allowed were at a man disadvantage. Across two appearances, he holds an 0-2-0 record, a 2.07 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 47 shot attempts. With trade rumors surrounding both Dylan Larkin and Simon Edvinsson, Gibson's situation in fantasy is set to be unpredictable for the time being. While he might find individual success, he's best left on waivers in standard leagues until the Red Wings can get back on track.
